Programme
« on February 28, 2015, 08:26:33 pm by RTID75 »
Great performance from Rovers today, I have to say that as I don't want this to read like I've only got bad things to say!

But! Today's programme (with extra special attention to page 9) is well up there with some of the most illiterate things I've ever read!

It's been bad for a while, but today's was breathtaking! Very unprofessional. Bad reflection on the club. :(

Must be the same person who does the official twitter feed. In the opening ten minutes they got Wellens mixed up with Razak at a corner and then Wabara mixed up with McCullough for the penalty. I can understand getting some players mixed up but there is something distinctly obviously different in both cases.

Also some of their comments in the past three or four weeks have been terrible from something officially linked to the club.

The programme never recovered after the club decided that the one produced by supporters (step forwards TRB amongst others) wasn't what they wanted. Idiots. It was the best series of programmes we've had in my now quite long lifetime. Not only could the supporters do a creditable sub editing job, they could even write English!

You're too kind, Bob, but I really did enjoy being involved with the programme. I was also involved with the late Ken Avis from 1988 until a commercial manager called Weaver decided to bring it  "in house." Not sure I'd want to do it again but it was fun and I like to think we produced something that the fans appreciated.

I actually think the Twitter feed has been better the past few weeks. Gives it more of a personality. The tweets I assume you are referring to far surpassed any other tweets they put up in terms of Retweets/favourites. That being said who doesn't love a good old pun anyway

For my sins, I actually subbed the matchday programme on a voluntary basis in seasons 2012-13 & 2013-14 via Steve Uttley.
I had no input to actual design or content but corrected grammatical errors and re-wrote some passages (some of the original wording would have shamed an infant).
I was never contacted after the end of last season, not even a thank you, but it's sad to see that nobody has taken over the role.

It's a shame - both that you no longer do it, and also that you got no thanks.

Page 9 looked like it had been written by a 7 year old. The first question only makes sense if you read it how they must have intended it - 'Well Dean gives us your take on things are at the moment'

The first sentence of Furman's reply said 'manor' instead of 'manner'. A few words down 'other then that', a few more words lower 'you expect from a team whose trailing'.

Second question 'What do you put our good run before the weekend down to it was fantastic run of one defeat wasn't it?' - I can only assume there was a question mark missing mid sentence there. In the answer - 'its' instead of 'it's', 'ones' instead of 'one's', 'there' instead of 'their' (twice).

Answer to the third question - 'rest on their laurel's', 'were' instead of 'we're', 'its' instead of 'it's' and full stops missing in several places. I could go on, the whole page is full of this, but it's depressing and annoying me so I won't.

Embarrassing and truly awful. I'm likely to start thinking about not buying any more if this is the level of guff they're going to feed us. I buy, and have always bought, a programme every home match, but Saturday's was laughable. This is supposed to be a professional publication. You'd expect (and get) better from a fanzine. :(

Long time since I've read a comic Bob, but as daft as it sounds - yes!  I don't remember anything even remotely like this from any comic I ever read!

I used to do this also, during 2011 and 2012 and it often was very time consuming due to the number of errors. Steve was good but I don't think the programme has had the proper attention for a very long time, it seems to be something that just *has to be done* by people who had many other jobs and therefore little time to give it the proper care and attention.

Presuming this was on purpose Askern, considering the subject of this thread?

Yes, very time consuming. Up to four hours a week if we had a midweek match and a Saturday game.
I got free tickets occasionally but wouldn't have the time to fit it in nowadays on a pro bono basis.
I haven't bought a programme in a while but I shudder what to think is getting through if nobody is giving it the once over and it seems like people are too busy tweeting mindless rubbish to do that.

Think we've got our error count down to single figures now. A third of the price too by the way.
