Play three at the back, McKenzie and Butler the stoppers, use Taylor-Sinclair to link from the defence, use Lund right wing back, play Evina left wing back, the role he is best in.
Gobern and Chaplow in front, Coppinger in the free role behind the strikers, N'Guessen up there with Williams, will give power and pace, plus he can pull off to the right wing, drop into midfield when needed, then you have a good, solid attacking, stable defensively team.

Most sides now play with 5 in midfield and one upfront, which means 3 centre halves would be a waste of time,

The title of this thread got me thinking about how biased some of supporters are AGAINST our team.
When Stuckman gets a MoM award "it says it all" about how bad we are.
In the last two games, away against the top two, the opposition keeper has got the MoM award but somehow our failure to score "says it all about how bad we are".
Really strange isn't it?

We are disjointed the component parts are not in sync one bit will be OK but the other bits will be poor
We need the whole team to function sufficiently to deny the opposition but to create good chances to score

It's the midfield that needs sorting then everything else will work

I'm not sure we need a new manager. Why don't the club get 6 of the expert posters on here as a committee and I have no doubt we would be in the premiership within 3 years.  :chair: :chair:

We would need 3 fit to play it as well. As we see, not often the case. I'd rather go 5 in midfield than defence. It smacks of parking the bus with 5 at the back. There may be a time and place for it but I would go with 4 everytime.

Sides that usually play 3 at back have a good footballing centre half that can move into midfield when not needed at the Back
Without McCullough we don't have that

McCullough is certainly the best ball player of the defenders we have. Whether he would actually suit the back three role we don't know.

Bedale  , we have been making the chances to score, hence opposition keepers getting MoM awards. But we haven't been able to put them away.
Williams is as guilty as anyone so it isn't all down to the midfield not creating opportunities.

But we are not controlling games or dominating the opposition we are feeding off scraps and one of the complaints was that the defenders were lumping it long all the time which indicates that the midfield isn't functioning
Think of the Fleetwood game we won that with 2 decent sized goals but not much else whilst they had the lions share of the possession

Yes, Fleetwood had the ball more than us but Stuckman had hadly anything to do all game, they didnt hurt us.
I dont know whether you were at that game but we were quite happy for them to have the ball in the second half because they were poor at getting the ball into our box.
In fact we were the more likely team to score in that second half.
I agree to a point though that we need to be more creative but if we can get Wellens and Keegan into the side from the start next week i would expect a big improvement.

As someone who was there yesterday I think you needed to be there to appreciate how it went. I was expecting a point right up to their equaliser. I thought we largely negated a team who were on fire, against all bookies expectations (as per Gillingham), and although not a classic, we were solid if uninspiring. I thought Jones substitutions were a bit baffling and getting Evina buzzing around the edge of their box could have been a wonder move if it had paid off, but it didn't. I still think we build a team around Williams as per Sharp, as in mould to his strengths, a prolific striker doesnt just go off unless there is something else going off, however also be prepared to have a plan B (Lewis Dunk/Sharp at Brighton). To have a criticisms of Jones after on match against 2nd in the table away to me is farcical. Yes, it wasn't perfect and he got a lot of things wrong, but how many of us in our day jobs would expect to be prefect after a week? Two significant things to me. Tom Bradshaw is absolutely on fire, and their goalie got MoM. I remember  when Clough/Taylor got royally thumped when they moved to Brighton(?). they went on to greatr things with time. I am not saying I necessarily want Jones as manager, but until a decision is made, I expect everyone on here to back him 100%, as he tries his best to get the cart back on the rails which had badly come off. Relegation after 7 matches (last 2 against top 2 away), come off it. When a new man gets appointed, whoever, he needs to make all the players aware he is in charge, and none are indispensible. However its far too early yet for some of the negativity I have seen in some comments. There is a long way to go yet this season!
