Yes on reflection that's a great point Copps...I listen to him and feel his passion and commitment to the team..but he doesn't come across as sharp and clever....So human nature convinces you he isn't without even knowing him...

He was a teacher before a footballer. Can't be that dumb.

It's a sign of things to come unfortunately. People are already saying the same thing they said about Dickov at the beginning 'never the right choice in the first place'. That was not my opinion at the time because I honestly knew nothing about Dickov. Most equally know  nothing about Jones' managerial abilities.

We're never going to get away from that unfortunately but I hope people are 'waiting for him to succeed' rather than 'waiting for him to fail'.

Take Walsall on saturday - it's a big ask for us to get anything IMO but no doubt people will be judging Jones on that.

Jones is a very intelligent guy despite his appearance and 'no nonsense' style defending. He has made a career in the game by knowing his limitations and playing to his strengths! That takes some doing and a lot of honesty! He's also a qualified teacher so has an academic side to him you don't often see on a footy pitch! I think he'll make a very good interim manager! Personally I'mnot sure he's ready for the job full time but I am confident he'll do a great job holding the role short term!

I didn't know about a lot of that to be fair, and it makes me feel more encouraged if he was to get a shot. Do we know where he's at with his coaching badges?

One of SO'Ds mantras, always give the ball recipient 2 options.

Keep moving and take responsibility. Every footballer should be able to pass a ball accurately  over 10 to 15 yards.

As mentioned above, full backs are a good barometer of how well the team is playing. They can augment the midfield and attack without necessarily compromising defence.

So many times we see players make intelligent runs and we delay the pass or not pass at all. Eventually, those intelligent runs dry up.

I hope Jones can at least switch them all on so they play as a unit. Attack as a unit, defend as a unit. Keep moving!

I had a good conversation with RJ at the Coppinger golf day and can assure you that he comes over as a very articulate and clever guy.
Don't judge the book by its cover.

Rob Jones comes across to me as a young lad, born in the rough ends of Rosso - Hard as nails, but has the brain of a lad bought up in the sweet streets of Bawtry.

If I was in charge on Saturday. ... it's a pity Richie Wellans can't drive because I would have him driving the team bus to Walsall

I would go to Walsall and attack them from the start, i would pick this side.

                                           Stuckmann

                                        McKenzie    Butler

                                 Lund                         Taylor-Sinclair

                                              Gobern

                             N'Guessen                      Stewart

                                               Coppinger

                                       Mandeville       Williams

Subs Main, Chaplow, Evina, Keegan, Whitehouse, P.McKay, Marosi

Same back four and keeper, Gobern in the defensive midfield role, start with two wingers, and Coppinger just behind the forwards, and get Mandeville in to start alongside Williams, he desrerves a start.
A few more options on the bench, i would pick Whitehouse over Middleton because there is enough midfield options with Chaplow and Keegan.

Surely Keegan has to play if fit?

Back five mainly picks itself. Three man centre mid with Chaplow in front of Keegan and Gobern. Copps and Evina wide, Williams up top.

If Wellens is still with us I'd have him on the bench along with Main, Stewart and N'guessan. Suddenly some game-changing options there.

Full backs for me were where a lot of our failings occurred. They barely get past halfway at the mo. And if they do they don't know what to do with it. If full backs bomb on it pushes everyone else further up. We were spoiled with O'Connor and Roberts but they were crucial in making us a force to recIoned with.

Absolutely spot on Cramby. In a 4-4-2 set-up, when you have the ball, you can easily become a 6-in-midfield team. Good modern day full backs are worth their weight in gold. Then all you need is 2 wide men who can work in tandem with their respective FB and you've got a great basis for an entertaining style. Obviously all the other pieces in the jigsaw need to be there but the above gives you a lot of options.

That's our trouble - we're not a complete unit yet. We have (arguably) 70% of a good team, but the 20% that is missing, or not up to scratch, is letting the rest of the side down. We have a good base to work with, but we're still a bit short on width and pace. 2 commodities that gets you at the right end of the league.

70% are ok and the other 20% are missing or not good enough.
What are the Other 10% doing then?
