They would in my opinion have been playing premier league football, if the board hadn't rocked the boat, it destabilised the team at a crucial point.
Warburton was very clever, by not altering what was already going well, he obviously had no ego and didn't need to prove how good he was.
Now his replacement has met the same fate, probably because his 'stat's' don't match up to what they want, stat's are useful to a degree, but when you make decisions based almost entirely on them, then it can only end bad.

I hate how in the football pull outs, a player is seen as doing his job better if he ran twenty miles in the game, the important stat for me is, how many shots did he have on goal?, did he score?, did he set a chance up?.
Or as a defender how many times did he get caught out of position?, did he win his battle with his opponent?, did the defence work well as a team?, did they keep a clean sheet?.
