Need to know what exactly the fall-out with RW and possibly PD was all about before I will judge him,or RJ on his decision to make him captain.

We'd be lost without him, thought he was our best player today.

At least he was capable of finding a man and always wanted the ball.
I thought that he had a good game. Our work off the ball was terrible again though, we make other teams look far better than they are by giving them far too much room.

Gladly, and it is just that, an opinion.
For me, something doesn't add up, he wanted out because he allegedly had difficulty getting to work (driving ban?) yet all of a sudden doesn't have that problem? Then he had a paid absence from training, which he returned to once our manager had gone, a manager he allegedly had no problem with and wasn't the root of his wanting away, so for me (and again just my opinion) he's gone from deciding he wants out of the club, to being the captain and leader of the team in the space of roughly 4 weeks? Not warranted, and I see the mood on here is lightened by the win, but I don't want a person like that leading my team, hence my opinion, thanks for giving me the chance to explain

If Coppinger continues to play as crap as he did today, Wellens will be captain for some time.
He was quite simply our best player by a mile today

Maybe Dickov was to blame. Let's face it: he was to blame for most of the shite things happening on the pitch

I don't think it was anything to do with Jones
He brought coppinger off and Copps threw the armband to wellens

Didn't Butler do the captains job for a while?

So your opinion is formed by supposition and assumptions of Wellens that none of us know for certain?

Yes you can only form an opinion on facts, fact is 4 weeks ago he wanted out, yesterday he was given what is in my opinion the highest possible honour while representing drfc, I do not like that

But you don't know - none of us do - what happened in between.  If RJ is happy to pick Wellens and allow him to be skipper, then why should we be too worried about it?

I think he has a point,I would not have him as captain anyway as everytime he messes up he stands there ranting at everyone else, not doubting his ability thou

Of course we are assuming that it was RJ idea to give it to Wellens, maybe it was just the standard rovers old boys club again..Coppinger would have been surprised to have been taken off in the first place I imagine as that's not normally allowed...I wouldn't have given it to Wellens in a million years he doesn't need a exscuse to blame everybody else as it is most of the time..That said he had a decent game yesterday by his recent standards..Butler would have been my choice..A player who seems to put the club and team first without complaint...Which is more than you can say for Richie its all about me Wellens....

He was the only one Copps could trust to actually catch it when he threw it to him and he was the nearest

Coppinger wouldn't. He'd been ill all week and probably Jones asked him to give it an hour.

That's something that always amazes me..If a player is ill I cant see anyway its worth playing him at all..At this level the difference between a good pro and a average one is a small percentage..I know when I'm under the weather I battle on through but never give things the same standard as if I'm fit and ready...Copps was awful Saturday (not that I rate him as highly as most do these days anyway) but if he's poorly what more can you ask...However if it was pre-planned then for the life of me I cant see how anybody would think Wellens was the man...but that's football and as fans we are not there day to day like others...
