Implications for Promotion Places
« on December 02, 2015, 01:26:56 pm by Alan Southstand »
Within just a few days of Walsall losing their manager, we now have the situation where Burton may be losing theirs! Funny old game, intit?

It seems the Clubs in the race for automatic promotion are getting a tad nervous that they may have actually achieved something this season. This could (potentially) affect the final league placing of both these teams, especially if there is a bit of asset stripping done in the January window.

Burton lost their manager (Gary Rowett) at about the same stage last season but it didn't stop them going on to get promoted.

The danger is always that they take players with them of course, but if the board gets the next appointment right there's no reason both clubs shouldn't continue to do well.

Yep. We got 1.92 points per game under Saunders. Title form

We got 1.78 points per game after he left. Mid play-off form.

Bit simplistic that BST...

Lot of other factors to include there, including injuries to key players that occurred around the same time (notably our central midfield), which necessitated having to replace them with loans.

AND if Trotta had scored the pen,or Paynter not passed to Copps,or copps missed in the dying minutes,we would have not got promoted unless we won the play-offs.

Yeah bit harsh on Saunders who had a midfield of Keegan, Woods and Harper. Where as Flynn has Lundstram and Furman. Think of what Saunders come have done without old Pointer.

Hang on a minute. To listen to some our best midfield player was John Lundstram who was on loan. You can't have it always.

We only needed a point from Brentford to go up in second place.

If we had gone into a play off situation we would have gone up anyway.
Our play off record is superb.
As it will be this season............................

I'm rubbing my hands together here.

So am I ... having had a £1 coin on Promo at 150/1 !

Still fancy my £4 at 5/1 for top half better though !

However my Free bet on Man City fro Prem to pay 18.18 looks "shaky" ... what IS wrong with those Sky Blue f*****s.

I always said Lundstram was overrated, especially by folks on here. He was awful at Brentford. Couldn't  see what all the fuss was about. Where is he now?

Yes, within a space of seconds we could have either finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd!

I waslistening on the radio, and when Brentford got their penalty I was expecting them to score then we'd be 3rd.  When they missed, I thought great, promoted anyway.  When Copps scored I could not believe the turnaround...

Even then, Radio 5Live were saying Bournemouth were champions!
