There's a long way to go but I just feel things are so much more positive since DF got his teeth into the job.
I hope he's here for the long-term because even now I think he has the wherewithal to take us back up to the Championship, or certainly to be serious contenders.

And we're scoring goals!

Wonder how much of an influence his old man is on him. Would make an interesting q for an interview?

Before we won yesterday it was 8/1! I have £55 on it! Not looking too bad now, also have £45 on top half finish 5/1!

All those who wanted to let PD have another 10 games form an orderly queue! ;)

I just hope he finds the key to changing our home form. I think he's got the away system sorted but there's still a big question mark hanging over our home record. We need that safe cracker to open defensive-minded and bullying sides at home. I think that is why he's seeking another (different type of) striker to what we presently possess.

Hold on to your hats, it's going to get interesting.

Alan

I think you'd struggle to find any Rovers fan who thought Dickov hadn't been given long enough.

I never wanted PD to have another 10 games but I was willing to give him a fair crack of the whip, which I believe in the end he got and he can't have no complaints. However despite all his hard work & efforts now that we've  got a proper manager in charge whose united the fans I realise how dire PD really was and how far backwards the club had gone. The future looks bright under DF he's not afraid to give youth a chance, appears shrewd in the loan market & has managed to offload 2 of our highest earners as we climb the table. If we don't go up this season I really fancy us next.

Posh fan, glad he's doing well for you. Though I doubt he would welcome people constantly talking about his father, his response at Posh was to down-play his influence in a way that made it clear the questions were not welcome (or he was fed up with being asked the same questions over and over again). I don't think he likes living in the shadow of his father's achievements

We were 11/2 on top half, 33/1 on top 6 and 150/1 on promotion, if we manage promotion I come away with over 7k

Ker effin ching !

Hope it comes in for you !

Wolfy, I don't think the Bookies thought we would do anything under PD, they were right, we were certs for relegation. But they couldn't predict the turnaround under DF. There must be some worried Bookies in Donny, who might have to make big payouts come May :clapping:

Les, the 150/1 was available a few games into DF's reign and i was impressed enough to put my money on.

Just checked and the best I found on Oddschecker was 11/10 and evens for a Top Half finish !

The best for promo is now down to 50/1 rather than the "insulting" 150/1

i love DF's style of play but  recognise good signings by PD especially Thorsten , Andy Williams and Anderson ( poor lad).

Anderson was signed by Jones I think?

But agree we owe Williams to Dickov.

DF is doing a steady job so far and is clearly making a lot more of the resources provided to him than PD did.

He has however had a few opportunities to prove himself at the level above, and has yet to make a success of it. I can see why he ended up here and I can see why no one would try and poach him for a good while yet.

Did you also recognise the older end of the age signings that are taking up good wages and under DF will only get in the side when others are injured.

Jones did sign Anderson and Stewart.

Chaplow, N'guessen, MacKenzie plus extending contracts of other older players of Wellens and Keegan.

I believe DF as more chance of success at the level above, he has taken teams from league 1 to Championship.

But every team going up to Championship must be prepared to spend money to ensure their place in there and what's more success.

In his second season in the Championship, in his second stint at Posh, he spent £2.5m. They finished 22nd.

Can you see our Board backing him to that level? I can't.

Many of our fans could see way back, that Dickov had the players confused, as to what he expected of them, it was obvious even without being inside the dressing room. The performances were disjointed at best.
None of the players formed partnerships, i can't think of many who improved under him, he got the tactics wrong quite a few times, he got way over the amount of time he should have got.
The team at the minute is trying to consolidate a top half position, there is still work to do to achieve that. We need to start getting in front in games, we can't afford to keep having to come from behind, because eventually you come up against a side that won't allow you back in the game.

For me we need to try and get promotion this season, because i get the feeling Ferguson might not stay for next season. Nothing concrete to that, just my feeling that a more ambitious club will come in for him.
One who will allow him to spend some money, because even though he has been supported with loan signings, does anybody really think in the summer, he will have money to spend?. I don't think so unless he got us promoted.
I hope i am wrong but i do see us losing him, because he doesn't have as good a chance of sustaining success with us, than other side's.

I'm very confident we'll finish top half, probably 7th or 8th and only a point from the playoffs knowing our luck!

I reckon around 10th, but much better than October when I'd have bitten your hand off if you'd offered me 20th.
