I don't, their chairman is always spouting off on Twitter, to the embarrassment of their fans

I agree. I'd much rather he had something to say behind the scenes. And by that I don't mean storming into the dressing room at half time and telling them to pull their fingers out. Even though I've wanted to do just that many times!

How is it, approx 95% of this forum could see that the defense needed strengthening. What does our hero do? Effectively nothing, and has remained so whilst he keeps bringing in mid fielders and forwards.
IMO how can anyone back in Fergie is totally beyond me! :headbang:

When Ferguson says similar people say it's just soundbites

Overall things have gone terrible under Ferguson, but i think the board see him as the right man, so he will be in charge for pre season.

What the Board are saying now might be very different to when our relegation is confirmed. They will back the manager in  the vain hope that we might somehow escape relegation, and don't want to undermine his and the players very fragile confidence. We might get a different story once we are down, I can't see how they can justify sticking with Fergie, they tried it with Dickov, things only got worse. I think this time will decide on a change of manager at the end of the season.

Doesn't matter, the same language can't be soundbites when it suits and brilliant motivational talk when it doesn't, no matter who is doing the talking

The point I am making is that an owner has spoken out about poor performances and ours are nowhere to be seen or heard.
Nothing to do with the manager at all.

A tad late perhaps?

I'm not sure the CEO sets the tactics and plays the matches to be honest so it's irrelevant what he says to the media, really.

Not sure why it's late, I just don't see how it makes anything any better if a board member says we've been poor

Les, I personally think the board have decided he will be manager relegation or not. A lot of it due to wanting things settled and to not keep changing things.
He hasn't convinced me overall, but today was a great day for all of us, let's hope they can do the same to Chesterfield!. The confidence will have improved that's for sure, Chesterfield took a bit of a hammering, if we play like we did today we win the game on tuesday!.
