Why are they a joke club Crippy?
I thought they'd had a really good season and have improved immensely the last couple of years

I believe this is their highest finish in the Conference yet they've still canned their manager a week before the play offs start.

It's almost as if Dale Vince has made the decision expecting a guaranteed "honeymoon period".

It's strange timing, but it'll have been done for a reason.

Dale Vince's quote: 'We made a change to give us the best chance of succeeding in the play-offs' smacks of dispensing with an unpopular manager, who some players possibly didn't have confidence in or didn't want to work under.

I hope they win the play-offs!

If they didn't have confidence in the manager or didn't want to play under him then they wouldn't have finished second.

A very popular move among their supporters suprisingly enough.

Not really.

In most cases, professional pride and adopting a fighting team-spirit (irrespective of players' views on the boss) comes before a collective plot to deliberately underperform and get the manager sacked.

Now who doesn't this remind me of?

I read a interview with him a couple of weeks ago...Apparently the groundsman had left the club (argument over the fact he couldn't have a roller allegedly) and they hadn't appointed a new one and weren't planning too this season...So the manager was cutting the grass..He was moaning about how bad the pitch was and unfit to play football on and they were desperate for a proper roller...The owner has a bit of a reputation of being impulsive so I thought that his time was short when I read it...Frankly how a club in the top 2 of the conference don't think they need a groundsman is just madness and beyond me...

Yes you are correct about that WC, apparently they have appointed a new groundsman but he is not able to start until the end of the season. What Pennock fails to mention though, if the rumours are true, is that the groundsman left after a fallout with him, because he (Pennock) was blaming the groundsman for the team loosing.

A bit more detail on that, among other things, in this article, the most salient point being:

Yes, Pennock was blaming everyone and everything apart from himself, yet he did not seem to have the answers to turn their increasingly woeful form around.

Given their investment, the expectations of the owner and the position they were in not so long back, I'm not surprised to see a "reaction" from the owner. He's wanting success now, kinda like JR on coke  :woot: But I like what he's doing in the bigger picture, hope they go up.
