Considering how
« on July 31, 2016, 12:08:59 am by Sammy Chung was King »
Pre season has been stop and start, with injuries mounting up, games having to be cancelled, what would you see as a good result at accrington?.
I personally think the bookmakers overrate our chances, at around 9/1 that is far too short. I also think though we try to fight it, ourselves the supporters, are underestimating how tough this league will be.
The manager has tried to build, virtually a brand new team, and already the back line has been decimated. This puts a squad already under pressure, to get used to each others, strengths and weaknesses, into a poor situation straight away.

It sets back, the squad being settled and it happening quicker, as it was they needed time to get cohesion in the squad. It makes it tougher, not being able to straight away, put the strongest line up out on the field.
It's part of sport, that injuries will happen, and you just have to get on with it. Even with injuries, i see a good starting eleven, but a lot of kids as the replacements on the bench.
So before we start, lack of games and fitness, lack of knowledge of each other, mean for me an away point to start off the season, wouldn't be as disappointing, as it would have been before. Against an accrington side, that has had it's heart pulled out, with the players they have lost.

Long way of saying a draw away wouldn't represent a bad start to the season. I agree.

9/1? Probably our odds to win L2 outright. Skinny if you ask me.

It doesn't look like Accrington have had the best preseason either judging by results so we should be able to get something out of the game. But our fitness levels will definitely be tested. In regards to winning the league, if Fergie can bring in the right loanees and we start to get some of the injured players back sooner rather than later I still think we should be in with a shout for the play offs I think winning the league is just too far our of our reach due to the size of our squad.

If we can get through the match with no more injured that will be a good result

I agree that we need a couple more in- probably loanees- but before a ball is kicked I would put us top three.

The injuries are a big concern and if we continue to be dogged by them it could cost us. But I think this same applies to anyone else at this level. Not many L2 clubs carry big squads, and they can't rely on short term loans any longer.

Well, a good result is a win. If we draw, but don't play dreadfully, then I'll be satisfied. Pretty simple really.

There is no game in this division that we should be going into thinking "well, we probably won't win today". None at all.

putting on my positive hat ... why doom and gloom our situation . The only long term injuries are two full backs .. the rest of the squad has been strengthened with 9 very promising signings . We can only play 11 against Accrington anyway !

I thought we had put the Yeovil bogey to bed as we won both the last 2 matches against them :woohoo:

What's 9/1

It's the price mostly quoted for us to win it, if i am remembering right, portsmouth were favourites at between 4/1 and 9/2, we are second favourites.

I'm not feeling negative graing, i just think it will take time for us to gel as a team. I see us either drawing or winning narrowly. Accrington have had the heart ripped out of they're team, quite a few left, even saying that it will still be a battle.
