Fergie interview - injuries
« on July 13, 2016, 12:21:43 pm by Copps is Magic »
Baudry has had an operation on his achilles, will miss the start of the season.

Wright - tweaked his groin, should be fit for Newcastle

McSheffrey - 10-14 days out.

Keegan is running.

On Paul Green - 'possibly' with a smile was his response. 'He's got quality no doubt about that and I like his attitude'

A lot of injuries occurred already really. Only niggley things and I know it's the start of pre-season however, I hope it's not a sign of things to come!!

No chance with Greeny. I'm convinced now that it's just a pipe dream... Again, I hope I'm wrong!!

Sounds like Greeny depends on our budget (basically if we can move on Stuckmann, etc) and whether we have a need for another CM. Other than that he'd take him.

With 2 central defenders out already, I'd guess that puts to bed LM playing in the holding midfield role.

It's a shame Baudry is injured, he's arguably the most intriguing of our new signings if you discount Rowe who has already been here before.

I am surprised no one is blaming the training methods.
It was always the fault of John Dicken in the past, oh and then Dickov of course.

I don't think it's a high number so nothing to place any blame for.

- Baudry's having an operation so it's obviously a long-standing problem
- McSheffrey missed the end of the season because he was injured, this could be the same injury?

Which leaves Wright and Keegan as minor tweaks which have/will have recovered within a week. I don't think that is particularly unusual or a high number for the first week or so of pre-season training.

In fairness Dicken had a track record of sorts. Wednesday had a horrendous run of injuries while he was there, I seem to remember.

I'm not arguing that he was the cause of this but it's easy to see why some people may see a correlation.

I agree Nick that it isn't a high number of injuries but many fans blamed those two for virtually any injury that our players got.
