It's true though. Apparently were not allowed to develop our youngsters, the only ones that matter are the big clubs youngsters.

Who are mainly foreign hardly any of the U23 players in these B teams are English. The tournament is a farce, rules being made up as they go along, League sides being fined for fielding more young English players than the teams this is supposed to help, large crowds will only serve to justify the inclusion of these teams and pave the way for their inclusion into the League system. No one wants to hurt the Rovers financially but which of the 2 will be worse in the long run?

Sometimes you've got to hurt the ones you love.

You could always stick 15 quid in an envelope and stick it in Rovers' letterbox, or even buy an extra ticket for a league game and take someone who wouldn't normally go.

Is everyone going to do that? Disposable income is a luxury must people haven't got in the current climate and folk can't just give £15 away for nowt, and equally why should the fans suffer financially?

I hope everyone does that, but I doubt they will.

If people are really strapped for cash (and I know many people are), then I suggest that they keep their money in their pocket and not go to the Checkatrade Trophy games, and instead choose to support Rovers in League games, which I'm sure the owners and manager of DRFC are treating as a priority - promotion back to L1 is far more lucrative than the gate receipts from a couple of games in this farce of a competition.

The thing is though, Muttley is suggesting people give the club 15 quid or take someone new to a league game instead of going to games in this trophy, so it's money they/you would be spending anyway.

I bet we end up getting to the latter stages of this competition, maybe even the final ?

If we do, I hope it won't be at the expense of our promotion hopes.

Having won our away game the odds are we will probably get out of the group.

I hope we keep playing our younger lads. It'll keep the first team fresh and give them needed experience.

I would have expected us to take between 600 to a thousand to mansfield normally, maybe a bit less with it being this cup. So the one's who have lost out are our club and mansfield.
Personally i think any game against the under 23's should be the target games, that people don't go to. That's what everybody is unhappy about, not a run of the mill early round cup tie against mansfield.
Hurt the clubs that shouldn't be in it is my opinion, not clubs of similar size to ours who need every penny. Just my opinion of course, everybody thinks differently.

It would have to be when we were playing at the under 23's 'home' ground! Cos if the Under 23's are playing at the KMS then Rovers have got to open the ground, put on catering, overheads, stewards etc... If everyone boycotted then Rovers would suffer massively financially.

I'm all for making a stand against the tournament/changes, don't get me wrong, but I don't think DRFC should suffer in any way, whilst making that point.

A good point i hadn't thought of, i think i would still not go to it though. I would be thinking of the bigger picture of putting a stop to interfering with our tournaments in the lower league's as though our clubs don't matter.
This cup won't help the national side at all in my opinion. I would just buy something at the next game or online to make up for the loss of revenue. The one's organising things need to realise our clubs aren't as big crowdwise or globally in reputation. But we are every bit as important as your man utd's and liverpool's.
