Pretty good analysis
« on September 13, 2016, 07:13:34 pm by Copps is Magic »
To be found here

If you want a synopsis, we face the 2nd least shots in the league behind Portsmouth, however, of those shots we tend to concede quite a few. Our attack to defense ratio (if you can put it like that) is very good. We're second behind Pompey in most measures who appear to have had an exceptional start.

Article concludes by saying that we're looking at a comfortable return to League One.

To add another talking point - if you read between the lines this is another 'Gary Woods' season. That is, both our keepers probably aren't of an amazing standard but whoever we play in goal is largely going to get a 'pass' because we allow so few chances and our attack outweighs our defensive duties by a wide margain.

That's fine, but if this was a 'Paul Dickov' season where every game finished 1-1 our fans would probably start getting on the keeper's backs and they would be exposed as lacking.

So what has Marosi actually done wrong for you say he is lacking or of a decent standard?

Etheridge can't really be written off yet either.

I don't quite understand how anyone has read what I've written and has thought I've written off either keeper.

The figures are there to see. The point is they haven't done a lot this season but what they have had to deal with, erm, hasn't been dealt with. That's the facts of it and in the meta-reading of the situation it doesn't actually matter because we're good enough to go up anyway. That's what happened with Gary Woods who simply isn't a good keeper.

It's backed up by my personal observations on Marosi - In the games I've seen he's had to do barely nothing so hard to judge his abilities. He made a couple of good saves at Crewe but at other times he's looked a bit naive. But apparently people already have confidence in his abilities.

For what it's worth, the stats so far point to the fact that it was a bad decision to drop Etheridge and I stand by that. Bad man management IMO, we wouldn't have been any better or any worse sticking with Etheridge.

Bit by bit, I think Marosi is improving. A good defence comes from the team defending cutting off the supply at source. They showed on Saturday they can do that. A wonder strike beat Marosi.

Let's see where we are after 12 games. So far so very good.
