Mandeville being written off after one slightly below average performance? He was superb against Barnet and unlucky not to have a couple of opportunities on goal when Williams decided to go himself to no avail. He does need to get stronger but his overall game has plenty of good things in it and a run of starts might be all he needs. Give him the chance.

I'd honestly rather stick with Mandeville or try a different formation with Beestin or Longbottom than sign an over-the-hill free agent.

Don't think he is being written off, just like DF said in his interview, he needs to take his chance or he will be replaced

"We can't rely on unproven youngsters to get us goals".

Thank God it wasn't Mandeville who cocked up with only the keeper to beat, that incident needed someone experienced who we can rely on!

IMO, I think in that situation Mandeville would have ripped a hole in the back of the net before the keeper came out.

I'm not so sure about that.
Mandeville very rarely looks like scoring.

Marquis should have either hit the shot earlier or played a simple sideways ball for Coppinger to tap in.

Let not blow this out of proportion, Mandeville is a 19 year old given his chance at this level. He is a good player, but he is not an out and out striker. In the youth team he played best linking from midfield to up front.
He will get better.

Let's look at other top teams in the league or even any team do they have 19 year olds as their main striker. Answer no.

We have needed another striker for these circumstances, if we start to slip from our top three position then more pressure will be put on Liam. Let's not forget Williams should have taken more chances, he was the leading goal scorer in league one for Swindon. We are now asking a 19 year old up and coming player to take his postion. DF can give his chance, but let's not ruin his confidence.

Personally think Fergie may use this as an opportunity to revert back to 3 at the back now Baudry is back not that I don't think Mandeville isn't good enough.

I've always thought one player who played a lot better and had a much bigger impact when playing with 3 at the back was Tommy Rowe. He seemed to have a lot more freedom in that formation.

Be interesting to see what Fergie does.

Portsmouth fans want Connor Chaplin playing and he's 19. Averages 1 every 4 and will probably head up the leagues.

Tammy Abraham at Bristol City is 19, and Marcus Rashford is only 18.

It's not that Mandeville is a bad player, he just isn't a striker playing alongside Marquis will only highlight that.

I wonder if the same people who thought Marosi was not good enough a month ago are the same ones with doubts about Mandeville

I am sure I said this the other day, but the only way to improve in the game is to play..

No point being in and out of the team like Main was??

I think it's stretching the truth a bit to say Mandeville was "superb" against Barnet.
