You can get tickets from the ticket office on the day providing you're on the database

We've let people in for free before and not filled the ground. People just don't care.

We did it once against Palace and it was 'sold'  out.

Think the best we did in terms of home fans was against Notts County in League One a few years ago.  Nearly 13000 plus away fans and it was full price.
It wasn't full price I'm sure. I know I got an extra ticket or two for people as I has a season ticket then.

You wouldn't realise with how he posts.*

Two oblique mentions to 'have you got your tickets' on the rovers twitter feed. One (ONE) post made on the official facebook group (134,857 Total Page follows) on 5th December.

Nothing pushing the game, just nothing over and above sending bog standard timed tweets out.

Apparently our marketing budget doesn't even stretch to this.

It must surely come as a concern when the only bit of interest generated on (official) social medial was by 'Weldricks Pharmacy' who have run a ticket competition. An official partner.

The Black Bank sent out a tweet with the below picture. It contained some gentle banter, a talking point and a picture which hopefully gets rovers fans juices flowing. It's not a ground-breaking formula but its generated more interest than anything the club have put out in relation to this game (BB has 1,500 followers).

It really is ridiculous.  It takes all of 30 seconds to write a Tweet or post on Facebook.  Better yet have scheduled ones.
Who ever runs the social media side clearly has no clue how it works.

And to update, we've sold around 4400 for the home ends. Shocking.

Didn't they sack the bloke who ran the social media side of things because, err, some fans complained that he was posting on social media?

I think it was the context of what he was posting which was the problem.

There's been no mention of the Grimsby match on Facebook since 5th December. To me, that is absolutely criminal.

I also note the club do not engage with supporters at all on either platform. If anyone asks a question in the comments section, it is always ignored.

To put next to nothing out is shoddy. We have the biggest social media following in the lower echelons of the football league. A game we could have promoted but we didn't.

Like you say, it takes no time at all to post on twitter and Facebook (if you use something like Hootsuite, you only do it once and it posts to all your social media for you) it also costs nothing to do.

It's probably not going to generate 1000's on the gate but even if it adds a few, given the low time and cost involved, I can't understand why it doesn't happen

Correct me if I'm wrong but on Facebook it goes out as an event and is set in your calendar. Mine came up as a reminder earlier in the week.

So, have any of you taken up the offer to put your concerns idea to the club?

People at the club read all forms of social media including this forum. They know the concerns. There's no need to go through some lengthy (and usually useless) feedback channel.

I am not moaning for the sake of it. I genuinely want there to be a big crowd there Saturday and believe there could have been with at least some promotion. For whatever reason there hasn't been. In fact, it's lower than it is for a regular matchday.

I don't think what was offered, as a meeting with the people who push the buttons, could be a lengthy feedback process. It's the same way I got to meet up with Shaun Lockwood many moons ago and it works both ways with an exchange of ideas.

We're not talking about sitting down discussing some ideas Baz. With all due respect.

This is the very basics. One home game we have in December. One. And it happens to be a big one and (barring the Weldricks offer) there is one post about it on the facebook group.

edit: They have indeed put something up in the last hour.

I think that all Alliance members got two free tickets for the game. That will have boosted it as well. There was certainly marketing in the run up to the game.

I'm sure I did. I'm not sure if at that time they didn't spread them out a bit rather than pick a match that is likely to be poorly attended and give tickets to all members.
