Many modern fighters can do that these days..

I have seen a photo of 3 lighnings rolling down the runway side by side, wingtips a few feet apart.  Nowt unusual in that, but the middle one was wheels up!

Well before the days of photoshop...

We all know that the Vulcan bombers were the UKs answer during the Cold War conflict the the great bear .

The vulcans were set up to fly out to Russia and drop its load all over whatever target .

Iam sure that I read somewhere that on these missions to bomb Russia there was no way the aircraft was getting back to the U.K.

Pretty daunting to be a Crew member trained for one of those missions of no return.

Although had we been bombing Russia, at that stage, there would have most likely been nothing left to come back to!

A very good valid point there fella ,wonder what went through the crews heads during the Cold War as they must have worked that one out .

Thoughts of their families I guess..  But those duties were drilled into them those days.. There is a documentary featuring Vulcan crews from the time of the Cuban missile crisis, and that was exactly the scenario they faced...

EDDIE TODD. can i add this nutter to the thread. Many weekends i watched from my garden in Armthorpe, him take that Provost vertical into the clouds and probably God, to hear it stall then drop backwards to earth, then refire up and pull out. Amazing.

I love to watch fighters fly. Unfortunately due to my location i watch them each day fly overhead Tornadoes and F15 going hell for leather out of Daharan, fully loaded only to see them a hour or so later returning empty, after there visit to Yemen....

After watching some you tube footage of what that Eddie Todd offers with his jet provost ,I was trying
to track down at paying out to sittting along side him as he takes you up for a short flight in a jet
provost from sandtoft.

Was gutted when I found out that he no longer offers such service as he sold his jet provost and
it's been shipped out to Canada.

That would have been as close as I would have got to been a fighter passenger I guess well worth the £400 that was sourced .

If you want a real experience of flying in a vintage aircraft, you can get a 55 minute flight in a spitfire for just short of 5 grand. Think I'll sit on the ground and watch
