I've got one oslo. Ive heard a lot about 'clockwork', were they part of the DDR or not? Was it before the DDR?

Clockwork were not a 'they' as from what I recall 'clockwork' was a chap that drank in the saracens head pub and went to rovers .

Said chap is at least a good 5+ years older than me.i can say that he was never part of the ddr as his lot were from the older generation .

A close mate of mine has mentioned him in passing many a time as my mate used to drink in the saracens with clockwork.

Some of the older chaps on here will or should know clockwork.

I thought that it was small group, all who had a tear tattoo on the face.

I appreciate you had a bit of time off to improve your Norska, but let's not neglect the day job:

Iam 100% certian that there was no group within the ddr set up as you ask about above.

Back then tattoos were of the love/hate type and I don't recall any ddr lads having a tattoo of any sorts.there was one ddr lad who had the Lacoste trademark done above his left tit .

Think there might have been a sect back in the days that worked its image round tattoos and the name clockwork ,but certainly nothing of such within the ddrs ranks.

I knew Clockwork in my younger days in fact I bumped into him a few seasons ago leaving a Rovers game

I remember the DDR getting set up in the early 80s. Vast majority of them being miners from all the pits around Donny. How times have changed.

I see this DDR as a few blokes trying to pretend they were something bigger than they were. I saw some of them in action outside Donny railway station against Huddersfield it was pathetic a load of past it blokes who hadn't grown up.

You should have seen the kickings About 12 of us took at bury away in the late 1980s I guess

Bury got better of us

Then 70 + man city used us as punch bags outside Victoria station manc.

This was followed by a train load of Newcastle returning from Everton running blades down the carriage doors as we did are upmost to keep them at bay.

Then on Leeds station about 50 Barnsley returning from a game at mboro attacked us and came back for more.

Recall a man city knocking hell out of me and asking 'where are you from' as he landed his blows 'Doncaster ' I spat out

'What with a Yorkshire accent like that ' he said ,then carried on giving me what for.

One of the funniest things I ever saw was at Ashton Gate in Sept 81. First away match of season after promotion. Open terrace behind goal and red hot day. They put the Rovers fans in a section with a load of their idiots all bare chested, tattoos acting like real hard men. One was a lot mouthier than the others looking for trouble. Police removed all the idiots except this one who hadn't noticed his mates had been removed and carried on mouthing. A Rovers fan walked up to him, dropped him with one punch, he staggered up looking for his mates for back up. Upon seeing they weren't there, he promptly started crying and asking the police to take him out of our section. Got a bit lairy after the match though but Rovers held their own that day. That's when we knew we were in a bigger boys league.

Both Bristol city and rovers will allways be in different leagues to donny off the pitch if you understand my jist.

Funny how the police have many many ways of applying pay back or lessons learnt way of thinking.bet the local police were pissing them sens.

Not on Facebook, how would you categorise the football fans in England?

I'll have a stab in the dark of what I believe football fans come under with regard to FV and I think there are five categories!

1 - Not interested what so ever.... I believe that most people who follow football around the country would claim to be have no interest at all in FV and who avoid any chance of being apart of disorder if it happened at a match. This vast majority was probably smaller in the 80's.

2 - I'd rather not.... firstly I would put myself in this category. For me going to the game is a social highlight. Having a good drink and a crack with your mates home and away is as important as the game itself. I'd happily chat with opposing fans and interact in a friendly manner. All though terrace banter shouldn't ever be taken away from our game.

3 - if it kicks off, it kicks off.. these types are likely to be not to dissimilar from the category above but would be willing to be engaged in toe to toe activity if provoked. Might I add, I believe the vast majority off today's casuals who might claim to be apart of a certain firm come under this heading but for there ego wouldn't admit it and would claim to be in number 4 below. I believe most DDR will come under this category.

4 - just woke up, I'm up for it today.... ones who actively engage in arranged meet ups. I've no doubt fans fall in to this category even today, likely to be more prevalent following a bigger club with history of FV. back in the 70's and 80's larger proportion will have fallen into this category!

5 - I'm going to kick the f**k out of who ever.... an example of this would be the wolves youths who nearly killed that Watford (shirty) fan
Even though he had no interest in trouble. Another example, a Leeds fan (from Leeds) who I work with told me about a group of Leeds fans who kicked the shit out of a 70 year old man united fan in a car park near Elland Road when they played each in that league cup match a couple of years ago!

So pal, do you believe I'm about right with the category, please advise on what you believe to be correct.

Finally, not knowing you personally but if you don't mind I would put you somewhere between 3 and 4 dependent on the fixture, of course this is a judgement from you many posts on the subject over the years!
