Those older supporters amongst us, and specially those from Bentley may remember George who sadly died this morning. He only managed one game for the Rovers, the 1962/63 season in a 5-1 defeat against Darlington, but we were all very proud of his achievement.
George had a long career in local football, some of my earliest memories of football were watching my Uncle playing with names that I still hear popping up in conversation.
Football was, and still is a massive part of George's family, with his grandson Alex Mowatt still flying the flag.
RIP George - a lovely man

Another former player that a lot of today's professionals could learn a lot from.

Very sad news. Knew George from my Arksey connections way back in the sixties. Top man who never bigged up his footballing skills or his Rovers background. Think he left Rovers and went to play non league at sort of Conference equivalent in those days at somewhere like Hinckley or Telford but it never really lead him anywhere. RIP George.
