Les Mutrie
« on October 03, 2017, 08:24:12 pm by Lesonthewest »
Just read he has lost his battle with cancer, how sad, remember him fondly in his short loan here under Billy Bremner in our promotion season 83'84, seem to remember him scoring in a vital win at Darlington around Easter time, didn't come to make the numbers up either, a real handful to defenders in his games here & really helped keep us on track for promotion. Believe he was brought in due to injury to Ernie Moss? Was a late starter in league football but a real wholehearted player who gave his all. Think he had a successful season the season before playing alongside Billy Whitehurst at Hull helping them to promotion. Condolences to family & friends RIP.

Nice tribute Les. I remember him well. He had been somewhat of a legend at old Boothferry Park for Hull. Geordie Les performed admirably for us upfront in that loan spell as we clinched promotion back to D3 at the first attempt.

I thought he played more than 6 games for us
Nobody seemed to have had a bad word for him
Thoughts are with his family but as they say he is at peace RIP Les
