Time to Bury our demons
« on October 25, 2017, 11:22:16 am by anne honemous »
I've been out of the country for a few days which has given me time to reflect on the game with Walsall.

I'm sure it will have been covered elsewhere already about how disappointing the defeat was, but also the way in which we crumbled after going a goal behind. After some good recent results, I think we all expected a bit more than what we actually produced, so it has to be our worst performance of the season.

The one thing that Saturday's game did re-iterate for me was how deeply we need a strong and combative midfielder, preferably central, who can make us tick. With all due respect to Coppinger, he isn't and never has been, that player. It needs to be someone like a John Doolan, Ritchie Wellens, Paul Keegan type of player - not the best technically, but making up for that with sheer determination.

The game also showed again just how Jekyll & Hyde we continue to be and I suspect that's how our season will continue to be.

I'm looking forward to the Bury game now. There's no doubt, given all the players they signed in the summer and results they've had so far this season, that they've had a few issues gelling as a team and are probably a bit similar to ourselves.

We need a positive result to avoid the doom mongering relegation talkers from rearing the heads so it's down to the players to take responsibility and get that result. If our situation doesn't change drastically with the more games that pass then the manager's position will become more and more questionable, so we have to dig in and climb the table now, to avoid the unnecessary embarrassment of the manager being dismissed.

There doesn’t seem to be any mention of any players being talked about or rumoured where recruitment is concerned. I think the lack of either is troubling as there has to be out of contract players with League 1 or above experience who if given an opportunity could do us good job . With quiet a few points to win or lost before the January transfer window reopens , it would be appreciative  to know that we don’t intend to go too far with these players obviously unable to maintain any sort of form that could be concerned meaningful.

anne! are you forgetting we already have that sort of midfielder you talk about in Luke McCullough.
I know he is injured at the moment, and don't know how he is progressing, but I do think he is the type of player you are alluding to.
Hope he is back soon to bolster that midfield, and take charge of things in there.

Luke McCullough is still relatively young compared to the players who I mentioned previously.

Don't get me wrong, he would help our team at the moment if he was fit, but we still require more experience in the 'break you legs to win the ball' department of the engine room.
