He had a brilliant season last year. We've gone up a league and hes still got 5 goals so far.. if he continues at this rate he will hit 15? Not a bad return.  Especially when you take into account we have been one of the poorer teams in the league upto now.

He might have 5 goals but his goals per minute ratio is only 7 minutes better than Kongolo. Kongolo is hardly getting a lot of praise so surely that tells you JM is underperforming.

I don't disagree that he's not playing anywhere near as well as last season Nick but he's scored 5 in 14 league appearances this season which isn't that bad.

He doesn't turn into a rank bad player overnight. It's in there somewhere and he's got to get his head up. He's not on his own mind.

Alfie's the most prolific! .......
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/doncaster-rovers/top-scorers

It's the league where it really counts BB and he's scored more in the league than all the other strikers put together.

That's true LS, but stats can be manipulated to suit, and I'm sure you're aware of that. I could say that Alfie has scored 2 cup goals to Marquis' none, but I won't because it would just be as bad as just counting league goals. What I will say though is that Marquis has had almost 3 games playing time more than Alfie has.

I agree BB about how you can manipulate stats but it was you brought them up in the first place.
So I can also say Alfie has only scored 3 league goals in 13 league appearances which is nowhere near as good a ratio as JM.

Lifelong, the stats I produced showed all the stats, you chose to use just the league figures.

May has scored 2 league goals less but has played the equivalent in time on the pitch of almost 3 games fewer.

That's the thing about stats.
As you said they can be manipulated.

Give the guys a break! So much negativity on the team. There’s no wonder they aren’t performing .
So many injuries to the squad . Big players out injured, kiwomya, Danny Andrew , McCullough, willo etc. There’s no wonder we’re struggling! Can’t blame the manager for that surely. We’d be flying with a fully fit squad imo.

Paul, i keep reading where you are saying Kiwomya is a class player.
Have you ever seen him play ?
Genuine question mate, because i haven't and i want a proper view on how good he is.

As for Willo, i know he is injured yet again but i get the feeling that DF won't play him unless he has to.

On the subject of Marquis, could we possibly tether him to the opposition goal with a 45 metre rope?

The more things don't go for him, the deeper and deeper he drops to try and get involved. He's no use to anyone in (or even behind) our midfield. The best thing Ferguson, or anyone, could do right now is tell Marquis to stay up front and threaten to sub him off the moment he's less than 7 Rovers players from our goal.
He did the same thing all last season and it frustrated me at times, yet he still finished as the leagues top scorer.  Perhaps this is the way he always plays?  If Fergie didn't want him to do it, I'm sure he would tell him.
