Shuttle Bus
« on February 11, 2018, 08:37:37 am by Albert Trousers »
Just reading through the Charlton forum& notice our SLO mentioned the bus on their, not noticed any in recent games, does it still run?
Massive scrum for the service bus at a recent game & if you don’t get on it’s a half hour wait for the next one.

I assumed it still ran (only ever used it once), went to get it after the Bristol game and no sign of it, so just walked into town.

Where from as I never seen it , and the lack of bus service is a major factor in attending games for me.

I discussed this yesterday with somebody who uses this service every home game and he tells me the buses have been sitting on Alick Jeffrey Way after the game. They did use car park 3 for a while but they've reverted to the main road.

Martin,

You replied to my post last year about buses, as well, Many thanks for keeping us informed on the forum. However, the bus schedule and stops don’t seem to be consistent between the fans, the club and the bus company. If you get it wrong, it’s a long walk back to the station, in a rush to catch a train back to Scotland.

May I suggest that you get the club to publish the bus details every week in the program. When it’s out in the printed world, somehow, people abide by the words.

The one time I have used it the bus was parked near the stand of the Athletics Stadium, so I assumed it would be there again. Wasn't a big deal for me it not being there as I was just heading into town for a drink so didn't mind the walk but it's not ideal if people are relying on it. Seems as though on this thread 3 different places have been mentioned so would be good to get confirmation of where it sets off from.

Sure, no problem.

For those with a long memory you may remember that after we did the initial IRWT surveys it became apparent just how many people used public transport to get to the Keepmoat and back again. To add to that a guy on the same row as me always left before the end of the game and after chatting to him he told me he had to do that to guarantee he could catch a bus and then his train back to Goole. Because of those situations we have had an agreement in place with First Bus company to provide a bus service to and from the Keepmoat. This service has never ceased. We have had a hiccup or two along the way, and a couple of years ago we started the season without the service but it was only temporary.

I don't have any day to day involvement with this any more but I can always raise your concerns and clarify exactly what the match day situation should be.

The problem Saturday the buses could not get to the pickup points for cars parked picking people up even though there are thick yellow lines and bus stop marked on the road

Are you talking about the road down to porcenalosa (forget what the road is called), its a nightmare sometimes getting down there with people parked on both sides picking up, and then sometimes when they picked up just pulling out on you when theres only room for one car to get through

Agreed Filo. Add in people walking down the road and you have a recipe for accidents.

Yes, I'm convinced my car is invisible to the walkers and the people picking up, time for some parking enforcement down there in my opinion
