When he scored, against England I think, one of the tabloids headlined the back page LUCKY KUNTZ.

The best piece of commentary from Barry Davies isn't on football,it's the 1988 Olympic men's hockey final, Google it and you'll agree

Yep, was watching it on TV live at the hockey club bar. A big crowd as we had a team-mate or two on the pitch. The roar that went up from that comment was louder than any of the goals and the final whistle.

I was at uni in Euro 96 - as an aside the Italian national squad used our Alsager campus as their base and 5 of our uni players got to train with em for all their sessions - there were some right innuendo-esque names across the nations - google the squad lists there's some pearlers - seaman, kuntz, de lock, cocu, yankov, balakov djorkaev, etc. We had much fun pissed up one night playing 'spot the potentiality rude name!' Lol

None of the above compare to Brian Johnstones brilliant commentary in an England v West Indies test match. "The batsmans Holding, the bowlers Willey"

I've just remembered a beauty from a World Cup tournament from way back, I think it was sometime in the 80s. There was a player, I think it was an Algerian or a Tunisian, called Hadoui, and Motty kept pronouncing it "had a wee". I was watching it in the Co-op club at the time with Zeb Evans, Jimmy Golze, and all the lads. It was an absolute howler.
