I'm pretty certain Wellens has a great deal more football knowledge than since-1969, to be honest.

I thought Oldham put on one of the best footballing shows at the Keepmoat last season, all credit to Wellens. I wouldn't mind him as manager if we performed like that regularly.

He left us because he wanted to be closer to home didn't he? was that just an easy excuse to give at the time? if not wouldn't expect him to even be interested in coming as manager, it's longer hours than been a player so would be worse for him

Wasn't his reasoning back then due to him losing his driving license?

In fairness you can do work from home as a manager if you want/need to and let your backroom staff get on with a fair chunk of it.

I don't expect he'll be coming though. Certainly not a pleasant character by all accounts, which was one of the criteria...

I have learned a great deal from the experience and hope to find a role with a club that matches my ambition and believes in a long-term project; to develop players, a club identity and a playing philosophy. I know exactly what it takes to achieve success, and I believe that with the right ingredients I can deliver this as a manager.

This part makes it sounds like it could.

Why, oh why do managers and players insist in calling their job a “project”? For crying out loud it’s not; it’s just a bl**dy job.
