If we approached him then fair enough but if said candidate applied for the job then he should have researched about the role to be best prepared.

That doesn't apply to blokes though, Idler. If man boobs turned me on I'd spend more time looking in the mirror at my own. If I was interviewing women though I'd still have the size of their knockers as my tie-breaker. Obviously, discretion would be essential, I wouldn't want staff thinking I was sexist.
I'm retired but shouldn't you be working?😉

Spent my life hiring and firing.

Employed ones that talked the talk and looked the part and were full of shit.

Employed ones that talked the talk and looked the part and were very good at their job.

Employed scruffy looking bas**rds that were as dim as shit, smelt but could do the job.

Employed scruffy looking bas**rds that were as dim as shit, smelt and it was reflected in their work.

After all these years, give me a youngish guy who has a fire in his belly, a willingness to learn, a positive attitude and a desire to impress over any other attribute. It's infectious throughout the team.

If you've been prepared to employ scruffy looking bas**rds that were dim as shit, I'm not surprised you've spent your life hiring and firing.....

To be fair you can get a plumber who's dim as shit but good at his job. You probably don't want a heart surgeon who's dim as shit though.

Sorry to hear that BB.

Thanks, but don't be sorry mate. I was at almost the perfect age for it! I wasn't personally selected either, the whole department shut down.

It was one of the dearest options for them, I'd been there 32 years.

That last paragraph perfectly sums up the reasons the board gave for Dickov's appointment. Enough said.

Can't really compare interviewing for a normal level job to that of a football manager. If your going to compare its closer to hiring a CEO or other high level appointment in which just been young and keen wouldn't be enough at all.

Liam Hoden tweeted something along the line that its been an busy few hours as DFP went to press. Could mean its changed again, not sure why you'd be so busy if you already knew who the appointment is like we all seem to think we do...

With how Liam's been lately it wouldn't surprise me if he's worded it that way intentionally to try and drum up more chatter. I bet it's still the same choice as he thought yesterday just maybe they've decided to announce it earlier/later than originally planned.
