MK Dons are getting a decent player, no more no less. We still need to replace him with similar but with a bit more steel & experience, McCullough not good enough at this level for me, just my opinion of course.

They are getting a very good player at that level. Esecially with the style of football Tisdsle plays.

There's the difference, he may well be very good at that level, I just stated he was a decent player, no big loss at this level for me.

No great loss for me either. I was disappointed by his contribution last season.
I’d rather have McCullough. I think he gives a much bettter defensive cover and he can bring the ball out of defence better than Houghton.

Houghton gave the ball away far too often by trying to over-complicate, which was beyond his capability.

Nevertheless I do feel Houghton can play above League 2 level and wish him well for the future.

We did in January. But failed to convince the club to pursue him this summer.
Liam was referring to the here and now not last January. I would have loved for him to have been made permanent but we move on

He's better than L2, can't understand why he chose to drop down a level, unless money talks for him

He’s only young and evidently wanted to stay down south. He had a very average season at this level last year so I’d imagine clubs weren’t queuing up to sign him, and MK Dons must be amongst the favourites to go up anyway. Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward.

Tommy Rowe signed for us permanently when we were in League Two - did you think he was just a money grabber then?

As soon as my girlfriend became my wife she stopped taking my inch quite so much.

I’ve seen him on Facebook. He’s soft as shite. Seems a very nice lad but still too soft!

What has this bloke done to make people dislike him.  He played well for us when everyone I saw him.  Wish him well and move on

Disappointed he didn't sign for us, whatever the reasoning. Thought he was a very good player with potential.

Would certainly rather have him in that position than McCullough. The trouble with LMc is he's not good enough to be a midfielder, and he isn't aggressive or physical enough to be a centre half, and he takes far too many risks with the ball to play in the back line.

McCullough was our best player on show today by a country mile.

If that's his level and he was the best player then what's that say about the rest of the squad maybe not up to that level

MK have got money so he's probably being paid well. If they have a good season I'll be very surprised if he's not a major part of it. If I'm right it will be a stepping stone for him to play at a higher level.  He's far too good for that league

We will put that down to your superior football knowledge Elmsall, after all one has played for Chelsea youth, was sent back from Plymouth, played two seasons with us, one well, one passable and could not adapt when asked to play a slightly different role.
While the other has had international experience, has kept Cavarnie quiet, and inspite of long injuries is still part of his countries international set up.
   Yeh right.

Loving the irony that he was offered a deal with us & thought the grass was greener elsewhere - turns out it ain’t green at all it’s a none Football club Franchise FC

Then we sign Whiteman who is a better footballer

I wasn't overly impressed by either of them last season, but Luke is still with us, so I wish him all the best for this season.

I’m loving the irony that  he turned down a contract with us because he thought the grass was greener elsewhere - he now finds himself a League 2 footballer with Franchise MK & we’ve signed Ben Whiteman who is a superior footballer

I’m afraid Houghton will go down as another Kevin McIntyre

I can’t see any similarities at all with the McIntyre situation, Nicky.

McIntyre was contracted to the club for a year that he spent being rehabilitated from injury, then opted to leave at the end of it rather than take up the offer of an extra year. It left some people bitter although there were extenuating circumstances as McIntyre’s dad was ill and, understandably, he wanted to be closer to home.

Houghton gave us two years’ good service on loan from Chelsea. He stayed at Chelsea until the end of his contract rather than leave early to sign for us. Upon the expiration of his Chelsea contract it appears we opted not to offer him a deal and now he has signed for someone else.

I’m really struggling to see any comparison. Or why we should have any ill feeling towards Houghton who worked hard in two years on loan here. He must be our record loan appearance holder surely?

Good luck to him. If he can regain his best form and play in his best position then I think there’s a championship footballer in there. I’m disappointed he didn’t come here but clearly we are looking at other possibilities and we move on.

Houghton probably just wants to get that L2 Champions medal that he missed out on.
