Mason

I thought Mason was great today. He worked tirelessly on the right side, was strong in the challenge and his passing was good.
He usually gets a lot of negative comments so thought he deserved praise for today’s performance.

Best game for a while for him. He's been poor recently.

Played well after settling into the game, it must be easier without Blair in front of you in defence, and Blair himself looked more at home and dangerous further forward, and played well when he came on.

Totally agree. He was fully committed going forward and back. He put some great challenges in, crossed balls with right and left feet, being prepared to take his man on. Its a pity nobody really attacked the crosses he put in. The only blot was he overcommitted to the challenge on their goalscorer who did him like a kipper.

My Mom today.

Agreed that he was superb today.
Surprised that Crawford got MoM.
It was between Mason and Kane for that accolade today.

Mason has been good for most of the season.

I gave him MOTM on Twitter, thought he was excellent defensively and in attack today. Really pleased and hope he keeps this going.

Mason got two or three good crosses into the box in the second half.

But hey ho, lets look for the bad stuff eh.

MoM today by far. Crawford was nowhere near him apart from the goal

Thought there was some good off the ball play from Crawford, he wasn't terrible.

Well done Alie Crawford, he was picked for the Football League Paper team of the week, as well as the MOM by the sponsors who can't be as bad at picking star players as some seem to think.
I thought that Kane, Whiteman, Mason and Anderson in the second half played well, and when Rowe came on he added to it, and wait for it Alfie May was solid.
That is what we need, more than a couple  all playing well, and being backed by the others who all cannot play well all  the time.
Basically it was a good team performance, my pick would have been Kane by a short head from Crawford, and I agree with my mate who says Whiteman should be just that ten to fifteen yards further forward making his passes, instead of trying to thread them through a massed defence, he is coming too far back to collect short passes from our centre halves when we have possession, and is maybe inviting pressure on himself and the defence.
Just our opinion while watching the game, others will disagree.

Glad to see you praising May, Selby. Credit where it's due there because I have made a point of it recently.

My dad said the same thing about Whiteman yesterday, he does a good job in there but is capable of creating more damage in attacking areas and would benefit the whole team by getting into those areas 10-15 yards further forward.

The reason Whiteman is going so deep is that our two CHs aren’t really the ball playing kind. Maybe he’ll be encouraged to go further forward when Joe Wright comes back in.

RA, I only say what I think I see, nobody would be happier than me if Alfie May became the highest scorer in the league.
His attitude and effort can only be admired, his all round game has improved, and he looks stronger and fitter, he now has to start to score goals  if he wants to be considered a striker and I hope he does, if he does, we have a player on our hands, if he does not he needs to find a position, probably wider where his attributes can be used to the best advantage.
If Wilks is fit, he just has it over Alfie  for me when he plays well, at Notts County Wilks coming on at half time changed the game, if he is injured Alfie has the chance to make a name for himself, lets hope he does. We need him to.

May has plenty of attributes.
He works hard, has lots of skill and makes really good runs behind defenders.
His lack of height and possible lack of physical strength are obviously not in his favour but Billy Sharp has the same disadvantages.
I reckon that May just needs a couple of first team goals to give him the confidence to kick on for us.

I have just got back from the game and a 320 mile round trip so I am very tired.

I thought Mason started slowly with a few wayward passes but he improved as the game went on and is my man of the match. In the second half he put in a tackle in which reminded my of Peter Beardsley.

I haven't read any comments further back about Copps, sorry if it has been brought up, I am just to tired to go back,

I thought he was non existent in that game, why? out of position, injured that was not the normal performance of Copps. I was really looking forward to the fantastic interplay between Copps and Kane, it just didn't happen.

Kane is now a marked man and Wimbledon took him out 4 times early in the first half with no protection from the ref.

Wimbledon were a good strong team not shy in leaving reminders on a few of our players, Wilks, Butler, Mason can vouch for that.

I enjoyed the game, 3 great goals and it was good to see Tommy back in the frame.
