Disappointing...
« on December 22, 2018, 05:07:22 pm by NickDRFC »
Didn’t think we ever really got going today and Oxford were the better time, but still nearly got away with a robbery. Always tough to concede a goal that late as well - would like to see it again but thought both Anderson & Lawlor could have done better with it.

Thought Oxford looked a reasonable team and Whyte looks some player but didn’t like their spoiling tactica - pretty niggly side.

Still, keeps the unbeaten run going - hopefully doesn’t take the wind out our sails for Boxing Day.

Still as you say - last ten games are won 6, drawn 3 and lost only 1 (in FLT vs Notts County).

Not bad going.

Poor performance and hard to take a goal that late but a blip on a good run hopefully.  Key is if this is the start of a poor run or not.

Always going to be tough today with an improving Oxford side whose form is on the up. I saw the writing on the wall at half with them having the upper hand with possession and shots on goal.
So much do I cached out my punt double with rovers and the cod heads to win. All in all not a bad result. McCann will be fuming with their late leveller but it’s a point. Onwards and upwards.

Took a deflection their second goal. Midfield and Andrew were poor today.

No way that Lawlor could have saved that second goal.
Perfect placement by the Oxford lad.

Marquis was an arse with his decision making when he had the ball on the by line, all.he had to do was punt it down the line and it.was.game of over,  but no, a fancy pull.back then a poor pass that lead to the free kick.. jeez!!

You can get away with 1 or 2 having an off game, but 6 or 7, embarrassed today. Normally I'd be fuming with conceding with the last kick of the game, but, they deserved 3pts, we were shocking.
As for Marquis, wtf was that, you can't even say it's a schoolboy error.
Today was to be a game to remember, to mark Copps 600 games, it will forever be remembered for so many negative things.

Poor by Marquis for that late equaliser, sure, but let's not forget his important contribution to our own goal minutes earlier.

Yep, that has soon been forgotten.

No need for crying today, Oxford put a good performance together and were worth a draw.

We won’t win every week.

Very poor today. We were fortunate to get a point & Marquis needs to learn about putting ball in row Z when only 30 seconds to play.
Even Herbie looked out of sorts today. Only Whiteman, Anderson, Butler & Lawlor had decent games today.
Still on a positive we didn’t lose and that is a good sign.

Like I say, I’d like to see it again - to me it looked as though he didn’t really dive for it but he may have been unsighted.

He didn’t dive for it.
I was directly in line and it curled round a group of players.
Lawlor couldn’t have seen it.

Strangely enough, Marquis did the exact same thing in the 6th minute of injury time at home to Rotherham last season; I rate John as a striker just as much as anyone, but surely someone should have a word in his ear about game management in the dying seconds.

This became a huge problem for us last season; let's hope it doesn't again.

Weekly reminder.

23 games in League One this season = 39 points
23 games in League One last season = 27 points

Nigh on 50% more points than last season.

Oh come on, chill out. It was not embarrassing, we just didn’t play as well as we have done recently.
We were certainly not ‘shocking’, we just struggled to find the flowing football we’ve shown in the last few games.
Part of that is down to Oxford, who were a very good side.

Yes, John should have done better with his decision making when he had the ball on the line with seconds remaining. But he will know that. He’s not perfect, nobody is.

Onwards and upwards.
