...this Satdi.

Last time we got to R4 of the FA Cup without joining at R3.

We lost to the best side in Europe at the time but we gave them a decent game.

It was a cracking way to spend my 21st birthday.

Wasn’t it 35 years ago?

1985.  I managed to get stood on the bar that ran across the top of the terrace next to the stand, and propped myself up against the stand, as it was mayhem on the terrace. Looking back I am not surprised that Hillsborough occurred 4 years later. Scary trying to get out

Whoops, my confusion, I knew it was 84/85 but for some senile reason had it as 84 Despite it being January?

If I recall you are from Hatfield Originally, and if you went to Hatfield School you were in the same year as me

We were in the stand at the side. I remember seeing guys on the pipe. It looked a veritable death trap in there. It was a great atmosphere though. There is footage of the goals on you tube. I remember the final whistle and they were reading the scores out of other games. York 1-0 Arsenal - YORKSHIRE YORKSHIRE!

Yeah went to the high school there back in the day.
Remember the day out at Everton we’ll as went on one of the footy special trains into Croxteth and had an interesting walk from there to the ground through some delightful areas being offered some choice substances along the way.
Guy called “Elvis” who worked at Hatfield pit singing for sandwiches on the train on the way there. Seem to remember most on the train drinking cans throughout the journey. Can’t really remember the journey home.

I was on the terrace near the L/H corner as we face the pitch and faced a constant onslaught of coins throughout the game from the scousers.

It was 2 days before my 23rd Birthday  and I too was stood on that pipe running above the terrace. Was a great day out despite the result!!

We were in the Gladwys St stand, great atmosphere from our fans & a great day, we had a sprinkling of good players that day & gave a good account of ourselves. Don't think Andy Gray fancied it like considering the time he spent on his backside.

My memory of Adrian Heath was, he was injured and on crutches and limped past the Rovers fans behind the goal and got coveted in spit and by the Time that he reached the other corner flag that his suit looked like he’d walked through a blizzard snow storm.

That's my memory too.

For the record, I didn't goz on him. I was too busy trying to f**king breathe.

One of the greatest days out for me. I'll always remember the roadworks outside the ground. 1000s of yards of red n white safety tape being passed around behind the goal, had some great photos in paper the next day.

I can remember 4 of us in a hire car trying to find our way to the ground, so I pulled over to ask a couple of scouters "Excuse me mate, can you tell me the way to Goodison?" And the reply was "No, but I can tell you the way to Anfield". Brilliant!

I also seem to remember Glyn Snodin being our MotM? Or have I dreamt that?

Ian, surely. Playing sweeper behind and in front of the back 4. He was as good as any of the Everton all-stars.

Does anyone know how bad our Cup Record is "officially"

I know we have 4 x 5th Round appearances to our name but how does that stack up against the rest ?

Obviously worse than Barnsley who have won it and Bradford City etc but is there a list somewhere to save me looking ? There will be quite a few worse than us Crawley Stevenage I am guessing but I would just out of curiosity like to know

Then when we win today (fingers crossed) we will have a new record  5 x 5th Rounds and may get a 6th Round appearance (Barnet Home in R5) and can see who we overtake !

My dad and I went on the train to Everton in 85. I was 14.

We got a local train to a station a 5 minute walk to the ground, got off at the station and it was just a sea of blue hats and scarves in front of us and behind us. We were the only Rovers fans there. I whispered to my dad, "Don't say a word"

I remember the constant stream of coins and bottles thrown by Everton fans into our end and just how packed it was. Just couldn't move at all. Rovers played well that day, and I've had a pathological hatred of Everton since too. Can't wait for the day they get relegated.

The Cleveland Arms opened up about 8am and was packed out, at the ground i was standing behind the goal and i climbed up onto the railings to get a better view of the game and was covered in the grease they had daubed onto the railings, i may have been slightly merry?

You did right to keep your trap shut. If you'd said "My dad and I" out loud, you'd have got belted by both sides for being a posh lad.

Brilliant day - 34 years ago??  It was scary behind that goal though - makes you realise how Hillsborough happened - breathing was hard work!  I remember Glyn having a shot towards our end early on and there was a real surge forward.  God knows what would have happened if we'd scored!  Ian Snodin was immense that day.
