Part time this/ part time that
« on February 17, 2019, 09:45:29 pm by Mustapha-Dump »
A lot of comments flying around social media about part time fans. As somebody who is there most weeks (non STH) and general giver of no f**ks regarding attendance, how bloody nice to see it full today! More of the same soon please, attendance wise!

Quite right. There seems to be this fascination with attendances that I just can’t understand. I go to most home games and a few away games each season. The last time I went to every game in a season was around 1987-88. If that makes me ‘part time’ then so be it!!

Two "part timers" came with me today, one a lifelong Chelsea supporter (who remembers losing 6-0 and 4-1 to Rotherham in the cup back in the 80s) and his daughter who had never seen us lose when attending with me - including Coppinger's hat trick against Norwich - and both enjoyed it and want to come again despite the result. Games like today are what increasing fanbases are all about.

Heard it queueing up to go in South stand.
As someone that's been going since 86 and but last few years infrequently due to family/work/fininces I found it quite offensive.
Do they want the club to grow or not?

Amazingly dispite leaving after the players had left the pitch got or of the car park in record time.

Hope 50% of the part timers come back for the rest of the season could see us hit 10k more often

At least there is the chance that a so called part-time fan might become a regular.
The stay always never will be. We need all the fans that we can get.

Its moronic. The same people who moan about part timers are the ones that also moan about our attendances.

I've been a ST holder for well over 15 years now but also now consider myself a part timer as I cannot make night games and rarely go away (there was a time when I wouldn't miss a game all season). Its called growing up, having responsibilities and realising that there is also a life away from football....

Spot on with what you've said there. I used to get a ST every year until this season but had to become a bit more selfish in terms of a promotion I got but would mean working shifts including 3 out of 4 Saturday's plus having a baby last year as well as buying a house so unfortunately those things take precedence. What people don't understand is people work for organisations that are 24/7 and 365 days a year operational requirements. Railway, retail, warehousing, hospitals etc.

I even know people who stick with a bog standard job Mon-Fri so they can go to Football. Then again on average you're talking about 1 or 2 days out of every 2 weeks dependent on any midweek/cup games etc like as if to say the other days don't matter...

Most clubs have part time fans . It’s called being priced out of attending every week

Growing up is the key term here.

I used to go week in week out without missing a game in my teens/early 20s and if we lost, my week would be ruined.

Nowadays, I go to most home games as a ST holder and then local away games or further every now and then but not religiously. And then if we lose, come 5.30pm I’ve forgotten about it and couldn’t care less. Too many other things to worry about!

I love football and Doncaster Rovers but some people (my previous self included) take it far too seriously.

How does 14,000 people or 3,000 people being at a game affect your life so much that people need to attack others for it? Just idiotic. Go to the game, if you want, and enjoy your day out.

I’ve got a “ bog standard “ job it’s a bit boring at times but it’s fairly steady and my workmates are on general a good set of lads. Don’t do weekends or shifts, and when I clock off I don’t think about it until the next morning . Each to their own .

Serious question

If it was £10 every game do we think we would have bigger attendances but be equally profitable ?
