What  a waste of time only interested in top division how will the new refs learn if not subjected to people looking at how they are doing

Ref Watch is and has been surprising to me as it is still subjective and the Ref usually agrees with the original Ref or a cast iron "get out of jail Card" if he has actually got something wrong

VAR will be good but will not settle every issue - and Pundits are no better. I watched the Man U game and for me Southampton should have had 2 Penalties with Smalling grabbing the Saints players shirt (which he does for Man U and England all the time)

... and for me Ashley Young pulled the Saints player and grabbed his arm IN the very corner of the Box. MOTD said 1st one was a Pen the 2nd not a Pen because there was not enough in it for them.

Then they said the Sanchez one was a Pen and he was entitled to "go down" yet as I remember it the contact was far less than Saints 2nd shout.

Referees are no different to any other professionals - e.g. doctors, lawyers. In the face of any public criticism, they close ranks.

I admit I only saw the MOTD highlights of the Spurs v Arsenal game but there were some shocking decisions from supposedly top officials.

i mentioned that on saturday but i didn't see that Tottenham defender miles inside the penalty area when the Arsenal bloke took that "very dodgy " penalty which enabled him to make that clearance -- it certainly was a match with "refeering o f the lowest order"
Tottenham got a penalty today when they had a mere 5 players offside from a free kick at the time I thought it was 6.  Southampton denied 2 clear penalties against Manure and then he gives Manure one.
