Race for 6th position
« on March 19, 2019, 02:02:12 pm by Upton Rover »
Now with only a hand full of games left I see us competing with 4 other teams to cement 6th place and these are Coventry. Peterborough. Blackpool and Fleetwood. Some key games coming up and no more than our game in hand with Bristol Rovers and away to Sunderland. It looks like this will go down to the last game of the season. Coventry have to play Barnsley. Sunderland. Portsmouth and last game of the season Rovers.
Peterborough have to play Sunderland. Portsmouth. Blackpool and Fleetwood.
Blackpool have to play Peterborough. Fleetwood and Barnsley.
Fleetwood have to play Barnsley. Peterborough and Sunderland.
So some big Big games for us all and I think it will go down to the last game of the season needing a point to secure a play off place just beating Coventry and Blackpool both by 1 point.

it's going to be hard but when you look at everybody else's run in you wouldn't swap them for ours..Of course Saturday is going to be tough and for gods sake if we don't come back from Luton with anything and Marquis doesn't score, lets not get to downhearted and start ripping into them because we will still have a run of very winnable games to get us were we want to be..

What a sensible level headed post WC. Problem is some on here will not think that way.
They just can’t help themselves.

I agree Paul great post by WC, but, if we win on Saturday and JM scores some will think sixth will be a breeze , and it will not be.

Agree with that also. Although I get ahead of myself sometimes or quite frequently, it is one game at a time 3 points to be played for. The team which is most consistent between now and 4th May will get that 6th place & be in the play offs. I am quietly confident it will be us.

This is true.. we would still have a decent, well run football club to support in League One next season, albeit with I would expect a different looking squad..

Yes agree, but the manager and players will be very focused on achieving our goal.
Promotion. There will be no talk of what might have been. A positve mental attitude and anything can be achieved.
( Well within limits of course )

We are one of the most consistent the problem is we are consistently drawing games just need that bit of luck for a change.

I fully expect us to sell all 2830 and be asking for some more.

We have to win games and score goals, that’s it!
and if we fail , we will debate the reasons using our own opinions of what we think went right, or what went wrong...

What we might not do is say “ oh well, there’s always next week” ..because we enjoy the heady banter whether it’s positive or negative...

However ...you can be rest assured that each and every one of us will be willing our big guy John to burst the net with every touch.....
