To be fair, that starting 11 looks pretty strong, only wilks and kane missing really...

He's got Marquis in there; he won't be here, neither will there be a replacement who's capable of scoring 26 goals in a season.

Why wouldn’t a new player to replace Marquis be capable of scoring lots of goals.?  I would expect any potential manager coming for interview to have his player targets identified already..

Come on IDM, prolific goalscorers are a rarity at any level, let alone our's. Who on earth within our price range could we get that's going to deliver goals the way that Marquis did?

We warned all the Marquis knockers a long time ago to be careful what they wished for.

What's to say Marquis would only score 10-12 next season. Last season and the season before are irrelevant with regards to next season.

That last paragraph is comedy gold, Are you actually implying that the Marquis knockers are responsible for his wanting to depart ?

Many wrote that he was playing poor ( since the Jan window) and pointed out that he didn’t seem to be in the game as much.....some even implied that perhaps a spell on the bench would ease the pressure he must feel

But not many wanted him to leave the club!

He might only score 10-12 goals, or even fewer. Who knows.

Fact is that he’s delivered now consistently for 3 years in terms of goal scoring, I fancy us much more to score a goal with him on the pitch than when he’s not.

We will probably be lucky if his replacement scores half the goals JM has for us.  That’s not being negative. Just realistic, consistent and regular goalscorers are hard to come by in league one.

Marquis wasn’t exactly a prolific goal scorer when we signed him

Marquis for all his talents has been playing in a side where he is the main man and who created lots of chances for him.

Absolutely no guarantee he will excel in a struggling championship side against better defenders. Don’t forget on the whole he was poor against the better league 1 sides in my opinion. Against Championship teams it will be even tougher, especially if he signs for a weaker one.

Marquis is a very good player at League One level but he did not score a single goal against another top six side in the normal league season.

I don’t think Marquis is irreplaceable by any stretch. Other than Wilkes everything was channeled through him and he has had some spells where he has gone quiet for months at a time.
Bear in mind any championship side that signs him will likely be a lower half side so he will be lucky to get a third of the amount of chances per game. He also won’t have fans and management with the same amount of patience.

I would say he will be lucky to reach double figures if he finds a championship club next season. However I wish him the best because he always gave 100% for the club.
