Not me saying that pal. It's his previous employer, the senior Tory Max Hastings (who sacked him for lying). Hastings says this about him.

"while he is a brilliant entertainer who made a popular maître d’ for London as its mayor, he is unfit for national office, because it seems he cares for no interest save his own fame and gratification."

That's a perfect description of a "celebrity". Not really very good at anything except being famous.
