From Rovers Twitter:-

PRESS | Darren Moore confirms that Alex Baptiste picked up an Achilles injury which will keep him out for a lengthy period of time. #DRFC

More than likely done for the season.

Obvious seeing it live.

That is brilliant (you getting it straight away not the injury itself) makes me wonder why its taken so long to get it out there, unless he has been getting a replacement in and didn't want it getting out so teams knew we were needing someone.

This is a Steve Brooker-scale calamity. We are probably never going to see him play again. Or at least not until well into 2020.

Out for a long time, a ruptured Achilles. Is he destined to be another Kevin Horlock? Is this another example of "we need cover". The last one like that didn't turn out so bad, if we end up getting one as useful as Tom Anderson it would be good.

I ruptured my achilles when I was 25. I was never the same again.
Still wake up with what feels like a fused ankle 17 years later.

I am 8 weeks younger than Baptiste and I ruptured mine 4 years ago. It’s still not right now and I haven’t played once since I did it. Some days even walking normally is next to impossible. The physio told me that the fitter you are the worse Achilles injuries are as they’re so difficult to repair - the fitter you are the tighter it is. Could very well be the end of his career.

Ge came on against Hull and looked tentative and restraint. He never ran with the ball , kept  passing it either sideways or back .Imo he had twinges then and all the time he’s been playing recently. I was lambasted for saying he was crocked and we should be leaving him alone.DRFC  taken in by a player who just can’t see that it’s time to quit and take a  different path . D M should have known this always a possibility as he has an injury prone past .  We’re two central defenders down , and it’s only just game 3 .

Of course he won’t have had a medical before he was signed.

Horrible injury, makes me laugh everybody moaning about the signing. On paper it was a decent signing and this type of thing can happen to anybody.

Just bad luck, probably won't see him play again for us mind.

Gutted for Baptiste and the for the club. Awful to pick up such an injury so early on. There’ll always be a level of risk with older players that haven’t played many games over recent years, but absolutely nobody deserves this to happen. Hope he recovers and gets back on the pitch as quick as possible.

It happened to Neil Webb at the height of his career, playing for England. No-one near him. Just running with the ball and his Achilles tendon went.

Can happen to anyone at any stage of their career. I'm gutted for the bloke and it's a loss to the club. A fit Baptiste would have been a real plus point.

You don't have a build up to a ruptured achilles, it just goes. It's one of those injuries that can happen to literally anyone. A friends went when he stood up from the sofa, another friend while out running. Bloody painful by all accounts. Bad luck and I hope Alex makes a full recovery regardless of whether he gets back playing or not.

Mine went standing up as I got out of the car. The pain isn’t like a normal pain either as it’s so localised. Its like a burning stab which after the initial period comes and goes all the time and constantly catches you out. I’ve broken limbs and would much rather do so again than have any sort of Achilles problem.

No of course not . But his fitness must have been a concern and couple this with wanting to get off to good start at new club , pain killers to ward off discomfort would have been the natural thing to do , so as not bring any signals that things weren’t really 100% . Bad luck for both party’s really .

What are you going on about.?  why would he have already been on painkillers.?  Do you have ANY evidence to back that up.?

You are talking absolute rubbish, as usual. Of all the things people have got at the club or Moore for recently, this takes the cake. Baptiste suffered a freak injury that no one could have seen coming, and somehow it's the manager's fault for not having a prophetic vision of it. Give me strength.
