Never read so much shit. Apparently we will never fill the Keepmoat. Well news for you, we have on umpteen occasions.

Also, they want to extend thiers to a larger capacity in readiness for the Premiership. What a load of shite.

I suppose it is easier to fill your stadium when it holds only around 10,000 as opposed to the KM at around 15,000 so Lincoln are more likely to do it than us.

Not so sure that we have filled our ground umpteen times though redarmy.

Which occasions are you talking about?

Off the top of my head.
Huddersfield
Bolton
leeds
Newcastle
Wednesday
crewe
Palace in the championship and fa cup
Notts County.

All full there or thereabouts

You said we had sold out umpteen times though.
Of those listed above, Leeds of course was at 15001.
Newcastle, Palace, Bolton and Huddersfield are up there but not sold out.
From memory, Notts County and Crewe were about 12000 or so, so nowhere near sold out.

Still more than Lincoln can possibly do though.

Agreed, but that wasn’t what was being discussed.

The setting of the whole  area around the stadium is possibly the best I have seen with the athletics, and training facilities, the lake area and grass banked area, only Bournmouth's surround comes anywhere near as attractive, and they spoil it with an old stadium.
There is not a bad view in the stadium, miles better than being up in the gods at Newcastle, or stuck in a corner at Leicester, the concourse is the best I have seen for space and accessibility, and let's face it, football grounds viewed from the outside are either rectangles, or circular, some higher or lower than others, and that is a matter for personnel taste.
And the main thing is it's our ground, the ground I support my team in, and is therefore better than all the other grounds in the country period.

The big difference with the grounds is, they won at the New York, and got spanked at the Keepmoat, it tends to influence how you enjoy the day out he he.

I was very disappointed with my first visit to the NY at Rovrum. Too small by far. Plus all the locals looked like they had never been to a dentist and dressed at a jumble sale.

I have my gripes with the KM - namely it's soulless and lacking character, its location is a bit out of the way, and it's not the greatest place to watch football (and atmosphere-wise) when its half full most weeks and large sections are cordoned off.

The New York is a better ground to be in when you're actually in your seat for the average fan, but each time I've been there I've been struck by how congested everything feels. Because it's built on a small piece of land and is sandwiched between the railway line and the River Don, it seems like everything - concourses, walkways around the stadium etc - are all very small and overcrowded. Obviously that also means they don't have all the facilities we have as well as SM has alluded to.

Aye but to be fair you can't force the away fans to buy seats to make it a total sellout.

......and I never suggested that you could.
I was just replying to a post that said we had sold out umpteen times, which we haven’t.

I’d take the KM over their crumbling wreck with multiple obstructed views any day of the week. That’s all that matters in this argument

You can't blame bricks, mortar and steel for being soulless and lacking atmosphere. That comes from the people within it.

Not sure I agree with that statement. I said soulless and lacking character, which is in part due to the design. I agree it’s much better when full, but let’s be honest it’s an uninspiring bowl with no real distinctive features about it.

They don’t put houses on Grand Designs based on how interesting the people living in them are. The KM is inherently quite a boring ground.

Yes, the atmosphere depends on the supporters, but it’s harder to get an atmosphere going I think when swathes of the ground are empty and away fans feel miles away.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful we have a club and a decent ground, but this thread is about the facilities and the aesthetic merits of the ground which is all I’m commenting on.

I still maintain that the most distinctive feature is that big green patch of grass and what happens on it..

Facilities can make the experience better, or worse, but are of lesser importance to me.

Sounds like jealousy to me because they have to play at their dump called Sincil Bank.
