Looks like he's another we was after but now several clubs are after him 🤔🤔🤔🤔.

He might go to Bolton now

I tend to agree. Some generalisations but not a lot specific beyond that.

Clarke is a decent player at this level but he's 34 and been sat doing nothing on big big wages I doubt his motivation would be at it's highest..

I'm so disappointed with Rovers recruitment, yes we will be turning out a decent team for games but so far we've stuck sticking plasters on again. We've actually invested nothing in our own development just loans and more loans..We've spent nothing on owning our own talent that we can develop, benefit from on the pitch and resell for a return later on...

Whilst Bury and Oldham have proved that overspending is very dangerous there is a balance to be had..Once again we find ourselves working hard, developing players for other clubs benefit and come next summer wont have a actual squad to build on....

We have had the best start in league football in nearly 25 years.

I appreciate that. However when it comes to the future development of Doncaster Rovers players for the benefit of OUR club we've got very little to work with..

I’m told he’s local. That might swing it in our favour
I just think his wages will be too much

Let’s hope and it is only a hope now we can sign a striker and a defender before the window closes otherwise it’s signing free agents.

Clarke would bang them in for fun in this league, Anichebe has barely played in 2 years where at least we know Clarke has been playing championship football the last 2 years. I would try and get Clarke, Wright and Holmes from the Blades tbh.

selling Marquis and then signing Best would feel like selling a Porsche and buying an old banger as a run-around.   :(

Do we want...
A. A player that's fairly old but has always scored, scored at our level and the level above even had a decent rate last season
B. A player that played at the top level but never really scored many, hasn't played in 2 years and has nothing to prove he'd do well at this level.

The new element for me is that LC is now on Premiership wages so a step up from last season .That clearly plays In favour of us trying to get him on loan with a participation in his wage .He is unlikely to accept any drop in wages and can sit his contact out Gateth Bale style .

Yes he is knocking on a bit and yes the manager has made clear to him he is not in his plans...but it must be pretty tough for him training with the squad all talking about facing Klopp and Pep, while he is consigning himself to being shipped out to the Keepmoat for our next spinetingler against Wycombe. It is a harsh reality.

Is he on prem wages though, if surplus to their requirements after promotion.?

Are you saying that the U18s and the U23s are not players already being developed by the club ?

I’m very confused as to what you mean when you say

“ we’ve spent little on owning our own talent that we can develop”

Are the U18s & U23s not falling into this group??
