There was Phil Neale for Lincoln and Worcestershire.

Dave Mulligan?

I don't think Dave Mulligan was a cricketer, certainly not at first-class level. Phil Neale never played for us.

It's not easy. Both played for us in the early 1900s.

The other one is an interesting guy.

Scored a thousand runs in a season for Nottinghamshire on 10 ocassions, was sold by auction when playing for Leeds City, served in the Royal Navy during WWI, retired to run a sports shop and passed away at the grand old age of 99 in 1991.

Willis Walker, goalkeeper 1912-1914

Not for Rovers, but did Ian Botham ever play against us for Scunthorpe.?

I'm pretty sure I was at a game at BV where he came on as sub. PS I was at the Balderstone (Rovers) match.

A very good friend of mine drove the car from Chesterfield to Donny with Balderstone in it that night.
He was reported multiple times for speeding but they were all overturned.

Major Booth and Tom Birtles both played for Yorkshire pre-WW1 , think there a couple more who have played Minor County Cricket ....Lincolnshire springs to mind for one .

Highland Rover (and Bentley Bullet) are correct- Alonzo Drake and Tommy Thorpe are the two in question. Messrs Walker, Booth and Birtles were all cricketers who played for Rovers, but in the Midland League, not the Football League.

I won’t put his name out on the forum but his initials are PD.
His boss was a Rovers Director at the time and he went in his bosses car, a Triumph Stag, to pick CB up.
PD did go into refereeing.

I do remember seeing the story on Calendar or whatever where a film crew showed them on the motorway and then arriving and playing. I think he was sat in the car still in his cricket whites.

David Bairstow also played for Bradford City reserves against Rovers reserves about 1967/68.

He came on as sub for Bradford City in a League Match at Belle Vue, which Rovers won 1-0, in September 1972. In all he made 17 League appearances for Bradford City, scoring once. He played mostly at centre-forward.

He was a decent cricketer and played a good standard of League cricket, but not first-class.

While we're on the subject of footballer-cricketers, who is the only current county cricketer who has played in the Football League?
