Sadlier reaction to our second goal confirms what I thought at the time, the ball went in off the Burton defender.

I have only seen the highlights but it looks like our style of play was rumbled, an alternative plan is required.

I think that the fans over reacted to the situation at times.
However, whatever the fans think, they are going to have to get used to it.
This is the way DM wants us to play.

More that the players need to take ownership and manage the game better than an overhaul of what we've been doing. That would be a overreaction. At the end of the day the players should see it's not working and then do what's needed to win even if that's playing differently to how we trained/planned to play.

Sedwards, are you suggesting that the players should ignore what the manager wants them to do?

I see the point that sedwards makes, whats the point of having a captain if he is not allowed to use the power, knowledge and skill he has! That's why he is captain.

We had a manager once who advocated and encouraged a captain to change things on the pitch.

I was just asking a question Alick, not saying he was in the wrong.

No not really but then again it depends what they've been asked to do. I'm saying once the whistle is blown it's more in the players hands than the managers and they should get a feel for what's not working, it was obvious to everyone else, and change accordingly.

I used to play centre half and full back and we used to try play out but some games where the opposition are on it and quick we'd just play percentages from restarts, especially early in the game, then play nice football when the game opens up. It's game management and i'd think any manager would like their team to show it.

Yep and I can’t disagree with most of that but I think it wouldn’t go down too well with the manager if the team didn’t play his way, especially early on in the match.
To respond to the first sentence in your last post, I think it is clear what the team has been instructed to do.

The thing is there are two teams on the pitch so our game plan might be to play it out but if the opposition don't allow it then i don't think it's such a problem for the manager that we go longer, i'd be surprised if he told them to play out no matter what. I'm only suggesting been more direct on the restarts not to change how we want to play generally. If we did that and then at half time the manager goes mad then fair enough but we'd have gone in without giving them a goal maybe 1-0 to us.
