Heartwarming
« on December 20, 2019, 11:59:36 pm by Barmby Rover »
Rovers may not be playing too well recently, but they haven't lost the club values. It is nice to see the foodbank collectors get recognition with a box for a day and a grandson of the organiser getting chosen as a mascot for a day, all presented by Matty Blair. One of the true community clubs, well done Rovers.

......and to add to this is the “twelve days of Christmas” series of presentations made to selected fans.
Some very touching stories involved there.

E.L.F is being a cheeky elf that’s obviously looking for reaction.
I didn’t realise that Matty Blair was presenting me with surprise, my son and daughter had nominated me for the 12 days of Christmas treat.
So there is Me, my son and grandsons that help me with the foodbank collection with Martin and I was/am quite overwhelmed with the treat.

Should have been Elfie May presenting it. But well done you deserve it. Enjoy the experience.

Esdaillies don’t be such a miserable bah humbug
This is about more than football it’s about being decent and grateful and supportive of the local community
If you can’t see the good in this maybe you should go and be a plastic supporter of a team that doesn’t give a fxxx about it’s fans

Jimmy's not only doing a great job, he's an absolute gentleman as well.

No-one deserves this more than him.

Well done to everyone at Doncaster Rovers who are involved in the foodbank .

It warms my heart in this day and age that at least Rovers have a huge sense of community and a willingness to help people who aren't so well off .

Very well done and seasons greetings to all Rovers fans .

How can one person be such a prick? It’s baffling. Genuinely baffling.

Well done Jimmy and the club.

His dad used to have a great sense of humour with his comments at the matches and loads of banter, most supporters knew him . Pity it’s skipped a generation

I'm not a Rover but if I was I would be genuinely proud of my club for supporting this vital service .

Doncaster Rovers don't have to involve themselves in projects like this but they do because they see outside the bubble of money orientated modern day football .

You should feel pride in your club that they care about those not so fortunate in our society and are prepared to do something positive about it .

Have a merry Christmas , your club have ensured many more people will have a better one than if they had done nothing at all .

Thank you very much for your kind words and many thanks to yourself and other Rovers fans for making me feel welcome despite our rivalry .

We have a sniff , given ourselves an opportunity , we will see what January brings .

But I fear you're a lost cause.

Tyke, the foodbank collection is a fans initiative, the club support us by allowing us a prominent site at the stadium.
Barnsley fans have now joined the Fans4foodbanks and do a collection at Oakwell.
The DRFC 12 days of Christmas was asking for deserved nominations and my kids nominated me for being a good dad that happens to be a Rovers fan for the last 50 years.
