Humble Pie
« on December 26, 2019, 10:25:22 pm by scawsby steve »
I've never been more happy to eat a huge slice of humble pie than now. I gave us no chance of getting anything at Posh today, and then I witnessed one of the best team performances from Rovers for years. We just pressed them completely out of the game, outpassed them, and tore them a new arsehole down the flanks.

No-one played badly, even though Sheaf gave the ball away at times. I just hope we can now kick on from here.

Also, just to complete my day, I won £10 on the football card on the coach.

Happy days.

Does this suggest that DM knows what he's doing?

Just that he lacks the personnel?

A great performance and win today,
Ennis makes a massive difference,
If somehow we could sign Wilks and a number 9 we would have a great chance of the playoffs this year.

Fair play to DM ,when I saw team and formation i.e. John on left instead of James and no Copps , I thought we played into Posh's hands, great result plus another reason why I'm not a manager

Well said, too many want to be managers who think they know better on here already!

We last won a game in the league 2 months ago on 22nd October and now everything is wonderful !??

A manager and decent squad with some pride would be playing like this EVERY match.

Has everyone lost their grip on reality?

Jesus wept..!

No teams play at their best, every game.  Not even Liverpool this season, who have certainly ground out some results as well as brilliance like last night..

Yesterday proved what our team and manager are capable of. We won three points with a great away performance at a top 2 side.  Nothing more, nothing less - I can’t see anyone making more of it than that.?

Yes EVERYONE, get a grip!

It’s not ‘all wonderful’. One sparrow does not a spring bring...lest we forget.

We should be getting this type of result EVERY game.

EVERY time we should, we don’t. Shame on those players who can’t produce this performance & result EVERY game.

No they haven’t even been trying have they. !!!
Just in case you have forgotten there are 2 teams playing in a match.
The injuries we have had have made a huge difference to our results. Losing Ennis has made a massive difference. We just haven’t had a centre forward who is mobile, runs the channels and puts defenders under pressure when when we are not in possession.

I think Michael you are the one who needs to get a grip on reality.
( All opinions are welcome though just in case certain someone thinks i am not happy about others having an opinion )

Of all the clubs in League One I like to see us beat Posh are one of the top ones. To have put 5 past them this season and conceded 0 puts a big smile on my face and well done to the team. I am as pleased as everyone else. I went for a loss myself on the PvO thread and am happy to have not taken a point.

But it is still only one win following poor results against MK Dons, Wimbledon and Accrington Stanley.  Be pleased yes, but  in moderation, as we have little chance of the playoffs on overall current performance, and I don’t see the second half of the season will be very different as we will still have the same core of players.

Well Michael this “core of players” have beaten, Fleetwood, Lincoln, Rotherham, Bristol Rovers, Southend & Peterborough twice.
Drawn with Ipswich & Coventry.
Apart from Southend and Lincoln all these teams are in the top 7 in the league.
We have only conceded 5 goals in those 9 games.
The three recent draws with Burton, MK Dons and Accrington and the defeats at Wycombe & Wimbledon we were not at full strength.
So this group of players are as good as the best in this league. What we are lacking is more strength in depth to cover injuries.
The core of the team is in place. So while i respect your opinion, in my opinion you are wrong.
If we get 2/3 decent players in next month we will be a serious force in the second half of the season.

You don't think we'll be signing anyone next month then?
