Highlights of the Sky Bet League Two match between.....

But yeah, looked like some great play there between the boys. First goal was really well worked.

Agree good hold up play then great finishing.  First goal developed from playing out from the back...

Superb from Bingham for the second goal.

Like I've said elsewhere. If we'd signed a new striker this week and he'd come off the bench and scored that one...

What a ball from Sheaf to Copps, in the build up.

Sheaf was excellent all game again. He looks to have got his mojo back.

Good hold up play leading to starting the move.

I had to look twice, nay three times to see who held the ball up there. Thought it must have been Ennis but sure enough it was Bingham who tracked the play and beautifully picked out by Copps. Great finish that will do him the world of good.

Great from Halliday too who came in field to make an extra man followed by a composed pass to Whiteman. Cool finish.

If Halliday is now getting the confidence to play more in those positions with his head up, then that bodes well. Too often our final passes and crosses have left a lot to be desired.

We seem to be playing with a lot more confidence now. Everybody seems to be working for the team. Much like the corporal Jones team.

I didn't notice at the time but it was also a very nice ball from Sheaf to Halliday for the first goal.

Sheafs very happy at Donny. I chatted with his mum at the Gills Cup game. He's got a flat in Bawtry and loves the set up at Cantley. Its all very well done apparently and they take good care of people.

I have to say the manager has to take some credit for the rise and rise of Sheaf, since the start of the season. Yes, the lad has had his dodgy games, where passes have gone astray, but whatever tweaks DM has made to his game has worked wonders. There’s a level of consistency building with Sheaf’s displays and, it has to be said, with the rest of the team.

It starts from the back and who can argue with Dieng in goal, closely followed by the laundry men (clean sheets). The 2 Ben’s are then, not only protecting the back 4, but are starting to influence matches further forward. The only thing that seems to be missing is our cutting edge and a severe lack of squad strength, but hopefully, we can rectify that sooner, rather than later.

It’s even better when you think that before he come to us, Ben Sheaf thought of himself as more of a central defender than a holding/box to box midfielder.

I've said it a few times now, I'll be very pleased if we pick Sheaf up on a permanent basis. I feel he's a realistic signing who we could develop into someone really, really good.

I think he's highly rated by Arsenal - the capt of the U23s or U21s or summat and expected to be on the fringes of the first team next year - don't think there's any chance personally - tho I thought that about Whiteman so you never know.

Fingers crossed, there was another report, Sheaf himself said he doesn’t see a future at Arsenal. Not sure where I saw it though.

If that's the same article I saw it was very misleading. That headline said something like.. The Arsenal loanee doesn't see his future back there....

But when you read the full article it was a reference to him previously
playing a centre half and now playing in midfield and him saying he can't see a future playing at centre half!

Very mischievous headline!!

He's about to turn 22 and has barely ever had a sniff of the first team. I know they've changed manager now, so Arteta may think differently (although I doubt he is personally watching all of Rovers matches to assess Sheaf) but I think he'll be leaving Arsenal in the summer. They have blooded several youngsters into their first team this season, all of them younger than Sheaf. Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock have been semi-regulars and they're only 20, ditto Bukayo Saka who is only 18. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is pretty much the same age as Sheaf and has almost 100 senior appearances for them already.

I think if we want him on a permanent basis, there is a deal to be done. But let's see how he goes the rest of this season.

Yes DBR, I think that was the one, thanks for clearing it up. I’m still hopeful though, I feel he is a player we can have for a few years and could even have a decent resale value in some years.

Like RA says though, we’ll have to see how he gets on for the rest of the season before we get carried away. I like what I’ve seen so far though.
