ITEN Team of the Decade: Results + Article
« on January 15, 2020, 09:05:46 pm by RoversAlias »
Hi folks,

It's taken me a little while longer than I planned but the final results and accompanying write-up on the fan-selected Doncaster Rovers Team of the 2010s is now up! You can check it out at the link below:

https://www.intotheemptynet.com/post/iten-s-doncaster-rovers-team-of-the-decade

These are the best eleven players in the eyes of the Rovers fans who took part in the voting process, and I have to say it is a very good line-up indeed. I personally would have had a couple of selections different but that's just me, overall it is a stellar line-up and there's no doubting the merits of the eleven players chosen.

Thanks for taking part, thanks as ever for reading and supporting the site and please do let me know your thoughts on the article and the final selections! Here's to the next ten years at DRFC.

Stunning team - conversely we should try and compile a rogue 11 of the worst player in every position over the last decade -

I’ll chuck two names in as nominees to begin with; Cedric & ATS. Might be an interesting compilation

Another decent article, thank you. Out of interest, who are the couple of different players you would have had?

Thank guys!

To answer your question Nick, I personally would not have selected O'Connor or Stock as I feel their best years with Rovers were in the previous decade. Paul Quinn and perhaps Ben Whiteman would have got the nod instead in my personal Best XI.

But, I can't argue with the selections. The decade did begin with us finishing in the top half of the Championship with JOC, Stock et al on top form so it is right and fair that that great achievement is reflected in this team.

Am I the only one who doesn't think George Friend was that great for us at left back? I remember him playing centre back for a bit and thinking he looked way better there. Don't get me wrong he was decent and did improve but I'd have definitely have Spurr ahead of him.

Think Friend's career after us may have won him that position.

He was at best an average left back.

Far better at centre back. Good guy.
