A Salute to Alfie May
« on February 07, 2020, 06:52:03 pm by RoversAlias »
Hi folks,

I'm pleased to finally get this one published. Transfers and a high number of midweek games mean I had to keep pushing this feature back every week for the past month, but with all of that dying down a bit now I've gotten round to writing up my salute to one of our favourite Rovers players of recent years, Alfie May.

https://www.intotheemptynet.com/post/fan-favourite-a-salute-to-alfie-may

In this tribute to the popular forward, I look back on his three years at the club picking out the key moments on the field and salute the great character he is off the pitch too. I hope you enjoy it.

Many thanks to those who read and support the site, let me know what you think and hey, why not tell me your favourite memory of Alfie in the red and white hoops. Doesn't have to be a goal or anything, you might've just had a friendly encounter with the man at some stage, such is his personality.

ITEN will be back to business providing live updates on tomorrow's game on Twitter and Instagram for those who usually follow, and with Shrewsbury tickets bought yesterday we will definitely be providing coverage for at least four of the remaining five games in February.

Really? ITEN has already created this and linked his page in another thread to the same article? Try reading...

Anyway, Alfie was brilliant to have around the club. Great personality and a seemingly infectious happiness on everyone near him.

His last away game for us at Peterborough - he was responding to the fans when asked the score in chant. Laughing and joking with the subs. Cheekily turning around and signing 2-0 with a massive grin on his face.

Alfie deserves to succeed.

Thanks 5 on Tour, I think footballers like Alfie are few and far between nowadays. Heart on his sleeve, a pure character probably due to his route through to the professional game compared to a lot of the PL academy drop-outs.

Nice summary that, I'm sure he'd be proud reading that, well done.
