Gomes
« on February 08, 2020, 11:03:02 pm by Barmby Rover »
I remember reading on one of the threads after the Tranmere game that he was " a real box to box midfielder like Greeny". I was really looking forward to the Rochdale game after that, but if this lad is anything like Greeny I wonder if the poster actually saw Greeny play. Sideways passing, incorrectly at crucial moments maybe today, but certainly no real ambition to push forwards and give the side momentum. However, he was not on his own. I have never been as bored while Rovers were winning for years, they thoroughly deserved to lose two points after that performance. Onwards and upwards though, we need to give Bolton a thrashing, I hope the players show that they have the appetite to do it on Tuesday.

He’s no good. I’ve said it since day one. No idea what people are looking at when they say he’s good. He’s shown a few decent touches in moments when he’s had acres of space. Apart from that he’s not good enough.

Tbf I think today he was too slow in making a decision and a lot of sideways passing! Also I think he chose the wrong pass more often than not!! There was a couple of instances in the 2nd half were if he chose the right pass would of released certain players to break free!! Not his best game today, but we move on!! Onwards and upwards to tuesdays game, now let’s smash Bolton for f**king us about earlier in the season!!

He was very poor today but he was far from being alone in that.

It was like watching a different player from Tuesday.  There were glimpses but he never got into it. Here lies the problem I feel. He's been good for 45 mins,  60 mins, one game but then has a bad game. I guess he'll make way for Sheaf on Tuesday

“ onwards and upwards”

Let’s stick with the “ onwards” and hope like hell for the “ upwards”

Don’t mind me ..I’m having a very negative reaction to a confounding performance..lol

BST, as I said he was not on his own yesterday. The team were far too complacent and had not enough drive to murder them, which I suspect they could have done. It wasn't until the introduction of Ennis and Okenabihre hope (I have spelt that right) that they looked to have any energy. We can't expect to manage a game for 89 minutes, no matter how poor the opposition are. Go for the throats on Tuesday lads!

in fairness that apply's to every one on Saturday not just one, they all lose concentration far too much

Before shooting Gomes, remember he is very inexperienced, looks a good prospect but needs time to become consistent, which many on here won't give him

Consistency (or lack of it) is the very thing that will probably see us just miss out on a play-off place.

A combination of factors have not helped our cause, really. Very thin squad for half the season and injuries easily affecting our performances and no out and out striker in that time.
Delay, for whatever reason, in acquiring the re-enforcements we so desperately needed in January hasn’t helped either, as the manager is now playing catch-up in fitting the new lads into our structure.

We’re performing in dribs and drabs, rather than over a period of weeks and months and some of our competitors have had longer to build that consistency and it’s beginning to show.

Yes he has to learn or we get a better player.
Playing Copps in that position we gain with more creativity but we lack the closing down and defensive qualities. So to play Copps we have to play Sheaf aswell.it will be interesting tomorrow what side we play.
Taylor apart from his touch for the goal was not at his best either.

They sold the 1 player with some go in him.........i know some didnt rate him as a footballer ......well i thought he had learnt a lot .and was sure he could have gone on to be thought of in a treasured way the way we think fondly of Copps................who is it i am talking about who had a heart that was bigger than the man himself ....you all know that answer.............

He is not as good as any of the forward players in the first team squad now, he did the right thing leaving, he would not have got a game.

Alfie was fantastic and his character second to none!! The new boys are of higher quality though and he wouldn’t get enough game time unfortunately. Good luck to the lad though, I enjoyed watching him put in 100% for our club 👍⚽️⚽️😀
