My biggest regret in life

I wanted to be a Sports journalist from 1967.

I think I got every job I had an interview for except the one at Doncaster Evening Post on North Bridge. It was for a job not related to writing for the public but I saw it as a way in to the organisation

I didnt get it and "settled" for the fact I would never get to follow Rovers everywhere writing about their exploits. Another regret ? I should never have settled at that point

He knows more than any other journalist about the club ,except perhaps John Coyle who has a treasure trove of documentation .
The Queen has know 14 Prime Ministers about the same number of Managers that Peter Catt has seen come through DRFC .
I have just checked it out and reckon he has known 40 Rovers Managers .

40 sounds a bit high to me - 50 years takes us back to 1970 and even though we went through a few managers in the 90s and haven’t been all that settled since SOD left I’d be surprised if it was as high as that, would have thought it was would be more like 30.

31 managers since 1970, if you don’t count the ones that managed us twice

To me he’s always given a proper account of the matches , when Steve Hossack used to be at Belle Vue he used to ask those around him who had scored, which I know is a fact . I’m not saying anything personal against Steve Hossack but he was a bigger rugby and tennis fan, I think his wife was involved with Doncaster Tennis Club

Lost all respect for Hossack after he allowed himself to become a mouthpiece for Richardson and Weaver.

Leeds under Cellino had the revolving door to the manager’s office..

Went to school with Peter at Hatfield Woodhouse Primary and then Thorne Grammar,  as seen in the 1959 School  photo !!
Enjoyed his Rovers reporting over the years

31 managers since 1970, if you don’t count the ones that managed us twice

Who have I missed as can only think of the following?
1)  McMenemy
2)  Setters
3)  Anderson
4)  Bremner
5)  Cusack
6)  McKay
7)  Beaglehole
8)  Bremner ( 2nd spell )
9)  Atkins I
10) Chung
11) Dixon
12) Cowling
13) Weaver ( think he counts as a manager !!!!!! )
14) Begara
15) Snodin I
16) Wignall
17) Penney / Atkins M
18) Penney
19) O’Driscoll
20) Saunders
21) Flynn
22) Dickov
23) Jones
24) Ferguson
25) McCann
26) Moore
Not sure if Lewer, Wignalls assistant took over for a very short time when Wignall was sacked if so that’s 27.
Who are the other 4. Possibly Ken Richardson himself was manager 4 times.  or he appointed 4 other managers for a least a week each.

Just answered my own question by googling it.

Caretaker managers Quigley, Knowles, Kinnear, Cunningham, Colin Richardson & Mickey Walker.
Lewer wasn’t.
Did not know Quigley had taken over after Setters got sacked.
Or remember Colin Richardson. The others i had forgotten about.

Oops 10 not 11, Setters was an assistant international manager not a player

How many were in World Cup finals squads.?

There are two I can see in Bremner (Scotland 1974) and Dixon (England 1986)..
