And these players we have to take reality checks and lower their wage demands, it’s no good wanting say £2k a week and not getting a club when others will only want £1.5k a week, £1.5 x 52 = £78k a year , £2k x 0 = £0k a year

There won't be much money flying around in League one and two, or even in the championship

It’s been a good time for us not to get promotion.

It's about the same number almost every season, players being out of contract. TBH players out of contract are in a stronger position that those still in contract and looking for a move as clubs will want to avoid transfer fees.

If squad size limitations do come in, there may be more players than places available.?

No not necessarily Selby, for some that might be the case I agree, but that won't apply to all out of contract players.

Football has always been a very competitive industry, its always very difficult to even break into professional footballer as a young player so nothing has changed in regards to competition for contracts and then a place in the starting line up. You could say it got with the territory so to speak. That's why its important for players to perform when they are playing and to do their job, whether its keeping clean sheets, assisting, scoring goals or winning games. If you perform and you are successful the rest looks after itself.

It would be the best time there has ever been to get promotion. I’m not sure how you are thinking it’s not.

How would it work if teams were only allowed for example 20 players and they had 25 on the books with contracts
They couldn’t be forced to sell players. And then what happens if the star players contract is up and wants to resign and the club want to sign him. How would this work if it took them over the specified amount of players

Any move to introduce new rules like smaller squads or wage caps would not be introduced immediately, they would be phased in over a period of 1-2 seasons, if indeed they go down that route and knowing football as intimately as I do, its no way a forgone conclusion that they will.

that's fine but the EFL have said it does not affect the clubs coming down from the championship, as it Is not a level playing field

Doesn't that support what I have already said Vicar in that this will not be something that they introduce for next season but something that might take 2-3 seasons to see introduced?
