Really enjoyed the podcasts, some interesting & sometimes surprising insights into how the players see different managers, with some funniest thrown in.
The Leo vs Macca race tickled me, also the Saunders free kick

What still amazes me Bournemouth were on the pitch celebrating the title before Copps scored and it came to us - the Cherries had an astonishing £15m player budget for League One and finished runners up to a team of good lads with a real defensive backbone & team work ethic - just shows you don’t always need money to achieve - togetherness & team spirit can take you far !!

Ronnie Moore's is great. Said Leo couldn't trap a bag of cement. Bless him

I laughed when they were as amazed as us fans when he turned & smashed that one in the top bin at Hull

I don't remember the precise figures, but our wage bill was VERY high that season by both our standards and the standards of L1.  The numbers in my head are that our wage bill was £9m the season before (during The Experiment) and I think, still up around £8m in 2012/13. That compared to a wage bill typically around £6-6.5 million around 2010. The precise numbers are probably not bang in but the general idea is right if I recall correctly.

The massive wage bill in 11/12 gave the lie to the idea that The Experiment was a low-cost way of bringing in high quality players. I've long assumed that massive hike in the wage bill was the key cause of the break between Ryan and Bramall/Watson. It was very soon after The Experiment began that Bramall and Watson resigned. You can well imagine a scenario where they were faced with the anticipated bill and said, "On your head be it."

It was £6.3m in 12/13 and The Experiment was £8.3m in 11/12. The previous season 10/11 it was £6.7m.

Quite a lot of difference between £8m. and £6.3m.
Thanks for posting that CBCB.

Thanks for the numbers CBCB. I was obviously a bit out on my memory of the precise figures, but that 12/13 wage bill was still very big for L1 and by our standards. Do you have other years' figures for us in L1 for comparison? And what our wage bill was in 13/14 in the Championship?

13/14 was £6.6m which dropped through floor on relegation. Following season 14/15 it was £3.7m.

Putting aside The Experiment in 11/12, we had a fairly flat wage bill in Championship. Final full season of SOD in 10/11 was £6.7m and prior season 09/10 was £5.9m.

No way was there wage bill that much. It was high but I'd be shocked if it was over 10 million. When they went up to the prem I'm sure I have read there was plenty of teams with bigger budget's.

Thanks CBCB. Confirms the gist of what I remembered, that the 12/13 budget was on a par with our Championship budgets and much, much higher than what we typically had in L1.

In 12/13 Bournemouth spent £11m on wages, which was almost double our spend of £6.3m.

In 13/14 when we went down and they stayed up, their spend was £14.8m and ours was £6.6m. We barely spent more while they increased their spend by around a third.
