Funnily enough I was thinking of Ian St John just 3 days ago - wondering what had become of him? He was a good player. Don't remember him managing so he can't have made much of an impression. And then Saint & Greavsie. Not my cup of tea but he was very succesful at it. The guard is definitely changing, at rapidly increasing pace too...

Saint & Greavesie was one of the best programmes on TV. Always looked forward to it every Saturday.

They are legends. They put a light-hearted and refreshing side to the game that was previously presented in a far more serious, stiff upper lip fashion.

The chemistry between straight man Saint and funny man Greavsie provided us with football's very own Morecambe and Wise.

Their chemistry was brilliant, and they have been irreplaceable ever since.

A real contrast with today

Ian St John cost Liverpool £37500 from Motherwell when there seemed to be a conveyor belt of talent heading South every Season

He was replaced (kidding) / has been replaced by the steady stream of Third Tier footballers going north and of course todays star man at Motherwell is Devante Cole

Says it all really

I loved Saint and Greavsey, we got regular mentions too. I especially remember the episode of Ian St John asking us to tone down the language of our chants....hahahahaha .

RIP
