In advanced talks to take over from Jacket at Pompey - reckon they’ll do well there with infrastructure and fan base etc - does this leave SOD out in the cold ?

Pompey are welcome to them and are making another big mistake if that’s the case, my opinion obviously.

What's so bad about them? I haven't followed them so pretty much unaware but they managed 2 promotions with Lincoln?  I know they prefer long ball but what's so wrong with that?

If it wins games and gets promotion I think I might get to like it.

Two personable and, publicly at least, pleasant characters with a history and reputation that's not been badly tarnished. Failing at Fratton Park would tarnish it though.

They had a cunning plan at Lincoln that worked - think they may have been found out though (unless The Championship was a step too far)
They always come across quite well and seem decent guys

Lincoln fans should be grateful they’ve got Appleton - with we had him - he’s a good young manager and Coach who comes over really well

MA has done OK at Lincoln and won over the fans........ however, I don't know about coming over well - he's not the most charismatic fella TBH

Did really well in non league which got them the Lincoln job so I'd say they've only been unsuccessful at Huddersfield. Which at the moment seems about par for whoever is managing them

We could have had him. He's been shortlisted at least twice for our vacancies.

Lincoln have won 3 out of 11 since we beat them, yeah let’s get a manager in who we’ve rejected twice. Lincoln won’t get promoted this season

They kept Huddersfield in the championship which was their aim when they took over so that could also be viewed as a success.

To be fair we didn't reject him as such, he was very very close to being appointed on both occasions and I'm sure he would have done an excellent job.

If you apply for a job and don’t get it you are rejected, football manager or road sweeper it’s all the same.

Depends on your interpretation of the word rejection.

Any unsuccessful candidate has been rejected - that’s not a negative comment, it’s just a fact that only one person can be accepted.
